In recent years, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic, museums and memory institutions made a significant switch to accelerate their use of digital content and new technologies. Even though strategies may differ substantially or evolve through time, digital is very much embedded in everything that defines a museum in the 21st century. While digital transformation involves the digitalization and indexing of collections and content generation, it also comprises new challenges, such as the management and development of systems and interfaces, platforms for new revenue streams, digital born commissions as well as a fine-grained understanding of the audiences.
For this webinar we have invited three specialists to share their experiences and opinions through the work they do at museums and memory institutions with wide-ranging collections and based on different institutional settings.
- Heba Hage-Felder, Director, Arab Image Foundation, Beirut, Lebanon
- Raphaël Guyard, Coordinator of Historias Platform, Museo de Arte de Lima – MALI, Lima, Peru
- Anna Ramos, Head of Radio Web MACBA, Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Spain
- Bart De Baere, Director of M HKA, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp, Board Member, and Chair of the Museum Watch Committee of CIMAM.
Moderated by José-Carlos Mariátegui, independent curator and lecturer of Governance of Digital Markets and Technologies in Europe at Luiss Guido Carli University, Rome.
