Dr David Brown earned his bachelor’s degree and his first master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He then went on to earn his medical degree, as well as his doctoral degree and his second master’s degree, from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Dr Brown subsequently completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a Postdoctoral Research Associate Training fellowship and an endocrinology fellowship with the Medical Scientist Training Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. After completing his fellowships, Dr. Brown remained at the NIH for several years, with appointments at both the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and the Molecular Disease Branch of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. His research at the NIH included both basic biochemistry studies of DNA recombination and clinical studies of endocrine and metabolic diseases. This work resulted in several publications on various topics in the fields of biochemistry, endocrinology, and metabolic disease. Dr Brown is board certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He is currently in solo private medical practice in Rockville, Maryland.
