Unified Solutions Community of Practice Virtual Gathering
This month's Community of Practice will feature Leona Schick of the Native Village of Unalakleet and Durina Keyonnie of the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. Ms. Schick and Ms. Keyonnie will discuss how their Programs recognized and promoted Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) to inform their communities, educate individuals and organizations, and reach victims. Subject Matter Expert Gwendolyn Packard, Training and Technical Assistance Specialist at the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, will discuss the history of DVAM, Native women’s important role in that history, and ways that advocates and allied professionals can promote awareness throughout the year.
The Community of Practice Virtual Gathering, part of Unified’s Virtual Victim Advocacy Support Program, provides a highly interactive peer-to-peer grantee learning opportunity in which OVC Grantee Programs may connect with other Tribal victim services professionals, share concerns, and learn best practices from the field.
