Rehumanize Monthly Meeting
"Rehumanize" is a monthly gathering for survivors of involuntary treatment. In these meetings, we come together to discuss how to heal from the dehumanizing and often violent elements of coercive mental health treatment.

7:00 - 7:15pm: Greetings and introductions
7:15 - 8:15pm: Discussion questions
8:15 - 8:30pm: Sharing of resources; check-in with participants to confirm that everyone is okay for the rest of the evening

Discussion questions:

-At our April meeting, the group overwhelmingly agreed: the experience of an involuntary hospitalization is dehumanizing and humiliating. How do we take steps to heal and humanize ourselves?
-What trauma recovery resources have been most helpful to you? How we can all step up our trauma recovery and self-care efforts?
-How do we heal our bodies as best as possible after the harmful effects of overmedication?
-How do we educate others about how actually terrible (and completely counterproductive) psychiatric hospitalizations are?
-How we do find and access peer support and non-carceral mental health resources in our communities?

Some fine print: As in our last meeting, please refrain from sharing graphic descriptions of medical violence. Participants will be encouraged to use trigger warnings before sharing. Clinicians, even those with lived experience, are not welcome, especially not those who are employed in coercive environments. Peer support specialists with lived experience of psychiatric incarceration ARE welcome.

This group is a place where you can meet others who can empathize with you and will affirm for you in a full-throated way: what happened to you was not "care."
