lets say you are planting from seeds indoors...how many seeds should you put in small containers?

With regard to soil amendments at the garden plots.....I assume every plant has a different need, but any additional suggestions on how to select and apply these amendments. Should we use the available manure in the plot? How much?

I tried seeds and plants last year. the honey dews and water melons only produced a small finger size and rotted. Brocolli ?? plants stayed the same size, no growing. Corn plants's corns grew half way. What can be done to prevent these. I was in the organic plot and I used organic fertilizers. Please ask this at the end of this. Thanks!!!

Just curious, if we use grass clippings from home which has been treated with weed killer and nutrients how likely is it that these chemicals are going to get picked up in our vegetables? Fact or fiction?
