in NC we are seeing Charters contribute strongly to resegregation.

As long as Charters are not required to provide transportation or food, they can’t address equity.

What a great question!!

Magnets are a better way to achieve equity and desegregation than Charters. Magnets are part of the traditional public system.

Agreed on Magnets if at the younger grades you can enter as a beginner with no knowledge or training.

I agree on follow evidence based data, as long as the data is derived by many factors

We have lots of choice options in Dallas schools. Some are magnets, others are all girls schools, others IB, others Montesorri, etc

Dallas ISD also has Transformation schools that are intentionally economically and racially/culturally diverse. There is no academic requirement even at the middle and high school levels.

I attended a magnet high school in NYC. Brooklyn Tech. Been a strategy there for about 75 years. But now the test to get in is being challenged by the mayor for the outcomes not being adequate for racial and economic diversity

Equity on entrance to magnets is key! Children wanting enter arts magnets shouldn’t be required to have had private dance or music lessons

Yes! My 3rd grader is on his 4th year of Robotics electives!
