Hi All - We’ll be opening the webinar shortly. Finishing up some backend details! Thank you for joining us!

19:15
Feel free to put your name, maker group name, and location here in the chat so we can say hello!

19:59
Hey all, this is Kelsey Oliver with COVID Mali (www.covidmali.org) in D.C. with the rest of our team based in Mali, West Africa

20:15
(Konstantin says hello Dorothy!)

20:28
Hi Kelsey (and Konstantin)! Thanks for joining us :-)

21:17
Hello! Etienne LaVallee ("Red Leader") coming from Richmond, Virginia! I'm the founder and operations leader for the Good Work Society's PPE Maker community engagement arm, "RVA MakeItThru Alliance"... We've organized ~100 maker volunteers and produced over 25,000 medical face shields for HCP's here in Virginia and North Carolina since we formed back in April. Very excited to be here with y'all!

22:03
Wow, what a great impact! Thank you for joining us Etienne!!

26:20
Definitely! Can't believe we started at only 10 of us... hahahahaha... But also been a wonderful way of connecting so many levels of our crafting and maker community to have a focus and purpose.

31:30
Wow, that is even more amazing to think it started with just 10 people! I agree, this has all been a great way to increase community, and sometimes with the most delightfully unexpected partnerships being formed. It is my hope that the positive relationships started during this time will persist post-pandemic.

32:07
Awesome, Kelsey! Thank you for your work, and such great points.

34:49
Thank you Jean-Etienne for your amazing work!

37:17
Churches can also be great - both for space and volunteers!

48:08
That’s AAMI

52:58
This is super helpful sarah!!

53:44
Both Sarah and Sam are awesome!

53:45
Check with breweries too! We have three in the area that have let us use their empty beer-gardens as pop-up safe-assembly centers... and they often have staff eager to chip in who appreciate process-flow.

54:18
That sounds like a great call!

54:32
Ooh, that’s a great resource, Etienne! (It would be lovely if they also gave free beer to volunteers (post-assembly, lol), but I digress….

54:57
;P Yeah... that's a benefit too...

57:02
Careful and specific wording is very helpful

57:21
And specific wording is required by the FDA ;-)

57:29
Yay! Larkin was able to join...

57:49
Welcome, Larkin!

58:21
Hi Dorothy! Sorry I was late— Etienne was soaking up all of the knowledge and making me jealous about not being on the call.

58:39
No worries at all! Grateful to have you both join us!

01:05:17
A good bluetooth speaker/chromecast on a TV so folks can easily take on "DJ duty" helps a lot... we've had everything from mid-century jazz to oldies to industrial mixed up and it helps sooooo much.

01:05:37
Such a great idea! Setting the mood is important!

01:08:18
A great reminder of why we’re all doing this important work, Sarah!

01:09:22
Sarah and Kristy both have really great data on how many people can make how many gowns in how many hours as you start brainstorming for your own operations!

01:09:42
<3

01:10:47
That’s an excellent point, Alice. All skill sets are needed and appreciated :-)

01:15:58
For maintaining volunteer contact-tracing logs, we setup a chromebook "kiosk" with a simple Google Form, that asked them to check-in with their: Name, email, phone, and temperature (using a no-contact thermometer at the kiosk)... Helps us capture new volunteers brought in by existing volunteers as well as having a good log of who is in the assembly center should a worst-case-scenario happen. Got that idea from one of our veteran volunteers.

01:16:25
Thanks for sharing the best practice, Etienne!

Woo hoo! Thank you, Sarah :-)

01:25:42
Thank you all for this info! Super helpful, especially the points on disposable versus non-disposable (disposable definitely the way to go on our end)

01:26:48
THANK YOU!

01:26:57
THANK YOU all

01:27:07
Really amazing, pioneering work
