The conservative school board in the Tumwater School District gave the Superintendent a vote of no confidence. The Superintendent has been a great advocate for students. They want to replace our current superintendent with a hand picked conservative.

About 1985 or so, book banner conservatives took over the Issaquah school board. They got recalled, and they sued the recall committee for defamation. A real mess.

Civics Education Fair - Saturday, April 23rd from 1-3 at the Capitol Building. Scavenger Hunt for kids. Books available at the fair for free. OSPI is giving grants to school districts.

Washington: The State We Are In is published in both English and Spanish. Grades 3-5 and grades 6-12.

And then there are school librarians.

There is a lot of material available for free from the Southern Poverty Law Center, including videos about minority rights. Many school board members are not aware of these resources. It is helpful to let Board Members know about these resources.

Teachers can give strudents reading lists. Very helpful to get by bad textbook policies.
