I’m Amy A BASG co organizer and independent sustainability consultant here in Cambridge. One of my favorite recent volunteer activities was helping to GOTV and boot a certain president last year! I also loved volunteering with two of the organizations on board tonight: bagging gleaned apples a few years ago for Boston Area Gleaners, and mentoring startups through Clean Tech Open!

01:02:13
Currently applying to the Cleantech open right now! :) woohoo

01:02:42
@williamlandry, woohoo! I am a CTO mentor, great organization!

01:03:04
Thank you for your service!

01:03:12
Shoutout to Talley Cain and Katie West who are representing our Boston-based Northeast Region of Cleantech Open tonight! https://www.cleantechopen.org/

I volunteered as a board member for Littleton Community Farm when it was first launched 7 years ago. Before that I was a board member for the Boston Minstrel Company, which leads sing-along workshops in Boston-Cambridge homeless shelters.

01:05:00
Awesome, William! And thank you for your work Amy! Thanks Ken!

01:05:08
I love to have a volunteer showing up to attract more volunteers!

01:11:41
I toured Cradles to Crayons a few yeas ago for a project I was working on. Amazing organization (of course everyone here is). Really upbeat vibe at their facility and doing such important work!

01:13:20
We are amazed at how much we have accomplished during these challenging times! Small, intimate groups removed thousands of plastic water bottles out of our river! We have run 3 public meetings via Zoom!

01:13:51
Friends of the Malden has been so impactful this year, definitely impressed with your work!

01:14:39
Thank you, Amy!

01:15:15
AmeriCorps features opportunities nationwide. Chances are there is an opportunity within 50 miles of your desired location.

01:15:54
More than a service opportunity, it is also a chance to build skills and to your resume while earning financial support during this AmeriCorps service commitment. You can choose the end of service education award. Hundreds of schools match our education award, or you could use it to pay on qualified student loans.

01:15:57
I want to recognize Tilly Pick, Amy Perlmutter and Eric Grunebaum too - our co-organizers. Since February, Katie Aldrich has been helping us think through events and set up that smart Meetup account for us. Thanks to all of them too!

01:21:50
And the new FoodLink location is right on the bike path!

01:22:03
Food waste is such a huge problem! Great to see an organization dedicated to addressing part of that issue!

01:23:03
I want to recognize @Holly Fowler for doing such a great job keeping the energy and interest in sustainability and BASG in this virtual world!

01:23:09
Foodlink is a fantastic organization pre-COVID and especially now in pandemic!! So many awards for the amazing operation they run. I worked with the Founder in our prior lives.

01:23:25

01:23:44
Thank you Rose for your work!

01:24:38

01:26:21
Thank you @Amy!

01:26:28
I learned AmeriCorps by happenstance. I served twice in Tennessee with VISTA projects. My Non-Competitive benefit from serving in VISTA led me to my federal job in DC.

Seeing cigarette butts in snow banks makes me sad. I still recall when I read a study in graduate school that cigarette butts are a major element in marine litter. Smoking not only pollutes our lungs but also trashes the oceans.

01:41:17
Thank you, Carol! We are so grateful! JF&CS accepts volunteers of ANY age!!!

01:42:17
Organizations are welcome to drop websites and any contact information in the chat.
