Personally, really excited by this lottery process
Caryn Greenberg
32:55
how long do you have to confirm?
Olga Piantieri
34:00
What if you want to go with another person to the ticketed places through the lottery
sym lynger
34:47
what happens on event date if confirmed reservation does not show - can you wait list at site
Michelle Chai
39:06
I didn't realize our Volunteer buttons allow us to jump the line WITH a guest - wow, is that true?
Sharon Goldberg
39:48
Buttons are a great perk.. its a great way to see the events and the MAP is great too
Paola Jordan
41:06
When and where we will be able to pick up button + shirt?
Duane Blue Spruce
44:41
Yay. I work at NMAI.
Amber Eng
49:10
If visitors ask, what is the purpose of checking in?
Paola Jordan
49:50
Will the list of sites will include if site is accessible or have access to public bathrooms?
Rowan Wu | OHNY
49:56
Caryn - you will have 24 hours to confirm your spot in the lottery if you win!
Rowan Wu | OHNY
50:07
Olga - There are no guests or plus one's for the lottery this year—if you "win,” your ticket is only good for yourself. Your guest is encouraged to sign up for the lottery for the same tours you're interested in. Rest assured you'll be joined on the tour by other like-minded New Yorkers and you might even make a new friend or two. We're working on adding plus one’s for next year!
Rowan Wu | OHNY
50:23
Sym - if there are extra spots from no-shows at your site day-of, you can let in people who show up without a reservation
Paola Jordan
50:32
Accesible for people w disabilities
Rowan Wu | OHNY
50:44
Michelle - Yup, the buttons rock! But you and a guest can only jump the line for Open Access sites. Ticketed is through the lottery. And as a volunteer, remember to let in people with OHNY buttons at the front of the line
Rowan Wu | OHNY
51:08
Paola - Alba will send you date options for picking up your materials by the end of this week. Pick ups will be next week at the AIANY Center for Architecture at Laguardia Place
Patrick Montlary
52:29
When we pickup our buttons & shirts will we receive our assignment at that time? Or will that be emailed in advance?
Rowan Wu | OHNY
52:41
Amber - Checking in is required so that OHNY knows how many people attend OHNY Weekend. In the past, this process was all done by clickers and paper check-in sheets. The QR codes allow us to do a contactless participant count in real time. The ZIP codes tell us more about what communities we're serving and how we can reach more New Yorkers.
David Oldham
54:05
That wwbsite is asking for name as a required field
Tucker they/she
54:28
unless you update it NAME and EMAIL are both currently REQUIRED
Carmen Soubriet
54:31
Looks like the name, last name and email are also required for visitors
Christina W
54:46
please remember that older phones may need an app for the QR code. their cameras are not automatically set up for them.
sym lynger
54:49
Can you put QR code back on screen so I can test with my phone
Rowan Wu | OHNY
54:50
Paola - the “access notes" part of a web listing has information about accessibility such as bathrooms, ADA, etc. See here for an example: https://ohny.org/place/cathedral-church-of-st-john-the-divine-all-hallows-eve-crypt-crawl/
Rowan Wu | OHNY
55:30
The check-in form is still a draft, we will make name and email OPTIONAL. Only size of party and zip code (or country if international) will be required fields.
Wendy Felton
55:43
If you’re on-call, how will you get the QR code to check in/out of your shift?
Rowan Wu | OHNY
56:43
Christina - we know some phones may not be able to scan QR codes or people may not have phones. Part of your duty as a volunteer to help check in on behalf of these folks using your phone. No need to give your phone to them, you'd just need to ask for their ZIP code and size of their party.
Helen Boltson
57:27
Will T-shirt and button pick up be avail on a Saturday and Sunday? How late if during the week only? Thanks.
Rowan Wu | OHNY
57:37
For on-call volunteers, the volunteer check in/out link will be sent in advance. The QR code just directs you to that link but the link is the same for everyone!
Nancy DiFrancesco
58:09
Please confirm if this presentation will be available afterwards.
Rowan Wu | OHNY
58:41
Yes, the presentation and a recording of it will be sent to you and available on the Volunteer Portal: https://ohny.org/weekend/volunteer/
Michelle Chai
59:23
FYI for those whose phones die quickly (esp. in the cold, like mine): you may want to bring bring a portable phone battery +/or charging cable since we'll potentially be using them a lot for checking in!
Rowan Wu | OHNY
59:51
Great idea, Michelle!
Tucker they/she
59:57

Amy Appleton
01:04:17
It might have been said before - when will we know what our placements are? It helps when planning the weekend :)
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:04:38
Amy - that's your assignment, which you'll pick up in person and receive an email copy of by the end of the week
Amy Appleton
01:05:06
thanks
Valerie Chicvak
01:06:01
What is the process to enter the lottery?
inabloom
01:06:24
not answered what if you are not assigned. What QR code?????
Tucker they/she
01:06:48
I've never had a non-access place. Once all the people go in for a reserved place do you get to go along with the tour? Or do you stay outside even though no more people are coming.
Susan Rodetis
01:07:34
what has been the experience in recent years on how many no shows for their tickets? 25% roughly?
Edith Kealey
01:07:39
To put it another way: if I am an on-call volunteer, I go to someplace central in my assigned district and call/text my DC to let them know I'm there. Do I also scan a QR code at that point, or does the QR code only apply if I am actually assigned to a site?
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:08:30
Lottery process: https://ohny.org/weekend/how-the-lottery-works/
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:08:49
We will continue to add more instructions about the lottery here next week before the lottery goes live on Oct 13
Theresa Handwerk
01:09:19
But what if you don't get assigned a location? That is what they are asking
Alexa Harrison
01:09:55
It sounds like you just don't volunteer for the year but it still counts towards your volunteer history
Nicole Lee (she/her)
01:10:01
If you aren't called to a site, it still counts as a volunteer year, but you won't check in or out at a specific site with a QR code
Carmen Soubriet
01:10:16
If the person already has a ticket, do they still need to check in via QR code at the site?
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:10:18
If you don't get assigned a location, you still receive a link to the check in/out form. The QR code just directs you to the link.
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:10:26
The link would be emailed to you in advance
Stephanie Jones
01:11:44
Can you go over again what to do if you have volunteer no-shows on your shift, or after your shift (for the following)?
Helen Boltson
01:13:47
If not assigned and one waits in a central place in the district, might one be waiting 2, 3 or 4 hrs to find out?
johnbetters
01:14:55
the QR code for donations isnt working….
Rowan Wu | OHNY
01:15:45
We are working on the donation QR code. The QR code will eventually go to this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=EHZRPQJHXGVZY
michellechai
01:17:00
Don't know if you answered Carmen’s Q about ticket holders (for people who win the lottery): If the person already has a ticket, do they still need to check in via QR code at the site?
Judy Mann
01:17:43
Good luck with all of it! Lottery + last minute OHNY Weekend has to be filled with surprises! I’m very impressed by the design and effort. May it be smooth!
