Would everyone mind muting during the moment of silence, by default zoom mics were unmuted when you entered.
Good noon everyone
Hello everyone on this climate change day of heat, little water, and famine throughout Turtle Island.
This would have been SO EASY if we'd begun the process forty-odd years ago when Jule Charney presented the NRC climate report to Congress.
I'd be happy to share a photo or three of the installation event...
Nothing's ever that easy!
Please consider downloading Climate Reality's NEW app, Climate Action Now to stay on top of important actions every week. This is easy! CP is also going to allow our region to upload local actions because we are under assault by the fossil fuel industry
The Climate Clock must stay where it is until the temperature of the world is stabilized lower than it is now.
Yeah Karen - thanks so much for initiating Climate Convergence! such a great event in June with inspiring speakers and the march on the capitol!!
Join us on Zoom bit.ly/ClimateEmergencyDayPA
Thank you so much for your work, Maya
^^^ Hell yeah! Those same arguments that you folks made have been crucial in our fight in SWPA against the fracking industry! Thanks for leading the way!
Thank you Elise!
Hope we get things done within 7 years!
Great message, Tamala!
Strictly speaking, water is a chemical...
Way to go, Tamela--great persistence!I love your holistic regenerative mission
Being an election year... I will be working to help elect legislators who are committed to addressing the climate crisis. Then afterwards holding them accountable to do that work.
Plastic is made from oil. It's destroying the oceans. Fracking must be eliminated in PA. Our legislature only cares about the money and doesn't want to switch energy sources from oil, gas, coal believing the other big lie "We can't afford to do that." How can they say that when both major parties are spending Billions of dollars in Ukraine. Much of that money goes to our weapons manufacturers who are growing fatter every day. "Capitalism is killing the planet." - George Monbiot, environmentalist and author.
"blindingly bright"! Yes!

Thank you Risa! I'm glad to be actively hoping with y'all, fighting for the future that we want to see!
I want to protect wildlife habitats, and I resolve to continue working to educate and empower my community to protect this planet.
The Basel Convention and and the Kigali Amendment, two important social justice tools.
Regenerative farming sequesters carbon and improves food yields with less need for water. Hurrah for Cuba’s farmers.
I will continue to address plastic chemicals such as PFAS that are used in the fracking process and plastic product that are devastating environmental and human health.
Can someone share the link for the facebook stream?

In Bradford, PA in the center of town is ARG American Refinery Group- oil refinery.
I will continue to educate the public on the health harms that over 10,000 chemical used in plastics cause. 2,400 chemicals of those have been identified as potentially hazardous. They meet one or more of the persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity criteria in the European Union.
Look up the Soil Food Web program. In their free webinars RESCUING MOTHER EARTH, they describe reforestation programs that in a short period of years, they claimed one year, they restore the soil. Increasing organic content of the soil holds water, supports growth of all the life in the soil and the plants that grow in it.
I will continue to fight for clean air and water and for a stable climate, toward curtailing plastic production and pollution, and for fair and human-scale systems including food production and retooling energy systems.
What I've learned the most is that we the people who are aware of climate change and the hazards from the petrochemicals is growing everyday! The snowball is growing quickly and corporation and some of the industry are on notice!

Clean Air Council is Philadelphia's oldest environmental non-profit. Founded before the EPA, before Earth Day, and before the modern Clean Air Act, we have been fighting for the people of PA's right to breathe clean air since 1967. We work on the issues most relevant to the region, so our programs are always changing. cleanair.org
thank you Katie !!!
We have heard from the CEO of Giant. Continue to sign the letter and Join Beyond Plastic (BP) and Move Past Plastic (MPP), a local organization dedicated to reducing single use plastic (SUP). MPP is participating in the Plastic Take-Back, an initiative for Plastic-Free July. This educational outreach is an opportunity to inform the public and our local grocery stores about the harms of SUP and plastic packaging. We will learn about things we can do to address this health, environmental, and social justice crisis.Sign the Letter to the Walmart President/ CEO and the Giant President to Tackle Single Use Plastic Packaging https://actionnetwork.org/letters/mpp-plastic-take-back-letter-to-wal-mart-store-ceoREGISTER for the Plastic Take-Back in person action Plastic Take-Back https://actionnetwork.org/events/mpp-plastic-take-back/REGISTER for the Plastic Take-Back Organizational Meetings https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFB8XGbXRq7a19_-6W0uXigJv1d2OT9Lu5lcOwoYCQB4o0OQ/viewform

gotta get on another zoom! Thank you all!
We had success recently in Allegheny County, motivating Allegheny County Councilors to overturn the veto of County Executive, Rick Fitzgerald of the bill 12162-22 which bans heavy industry, including fracking & injection wells in county parks. This meeting was the first time I heard the danger of climate change discussed in Allegheny County Council. The Counselors said that coming to meetings and writing to legislators was motivating them to change. One more vote was added to support this bill so the final vote was 12 for this bill.
Thanks everyone for your powerful words! Just to let you know that our Climate Reality Pittsburgh & SWPA chapter is staging a big comeback and there will be lots of local actions to take that you can learn more about on the new app, Climate Action Now. Breathe Project has also added the climate clock widget to our website, thanks Karen!
While the national readyfor100 program has decentralized, in SE PA we are still making progress and glad to help others in PA start programs in your area.https://www.sierraclub.org/pennsylvania/southeastern/ready-for-100As a result of this momentum, solutions for individuals and local governments are captured on https://www.pacleanenergy.com/
