Being an election year... I will be working to help elect legislators who are committed to addressing the climate crisis. Then afterwards holding them accountable to do that work.
RICHARD BURRILL

Plastic is made from oil. It's destroying the oceans. Fracking must be eliminated in PA. Our legislature only cares about the money and doesn't want to switch energy sources from oil, gas, coal believing the other big lie "We can't afford to do that." How can they say that when both major parties are spending Billions of dollars in Ukraine. Much of that money goes to our weapons manufacturers who are growing fatter every day. "Capitalism is killing the planet." - George Monbiot, environmentalist and author.

I will continue to educate the public on the health harms that over 10,000 chemical used in plastics cause. 2,400 chemicals of those have been identified as potentially hazardous. They meet one or more of the persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity criteria in the European Union.

Look up the Soil Food Web program. In their free webinars RESCUING MOTHER EARTH, they describe reforestation programs that in a short period of years, they claimed one year, they restore the soil. Increasing organic content of the soil holds water, supports growth of all the life in the soil and the plants that grow in it.

MPP is participating in the Plastic Take-Back, an initiative for Plastic-Free July. This educational outreach is an opportunity to inform the public and our local grocery stores about the harms of SUP and plastic packaging. We will learn about things we can do to address this health, environmental, and social justice crisis.Sign the Letter to the Walmart President/ CEO and the Giant President to Tackle Single Use Plastic Packaging https://actionnetwork.org/letters/mpp-plastic-take-back-letter-to-wal-mart-store-ceoREGISTER for the Plastic Take-Back in person action Plastic Take-Back https://actionnetwork.org/events/mpp-plastic-take-back/REGISTER for the Plastic Take-Back Organizational Meetings https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFB8XGbXRq7a19_-6W0uXigJv1d2OT9Lu5lcOwoYCQB4o0OQ/viewform

We had success recently in Allegheny County, motivating Allegheny County Councilors to overturn the veto of County Executive, Rick Fitzgerald of the bill 12162-22 which bans heavy industry, including fracking & injection wells in county parks. This meeting was the first time I heard the danger of climate change discussed in Allegheny County Council. The Counselors said that coming to meetings and writing to legislators was motivating them to change. One more vote was added to support this bill so the final vote was 12 for this bill.
