Jaylen -
01:16:30
I will say I’m somewhat guilty of that...
Chris Harris
01:16:45
How do you engage with someone that does look different than you on a practical level?
Jaylen -
01:17:53
I usually start with hello but after the initial greeting I’m usually comfortable talking to anyone regardless of color
Lauren
01:21:05
I like to find a commonality, maybe a hobby, something we both like or somewhere we've traveled to. It may take some small talk, but you'll find something that hits. It's important to remember that you do not have to establish a deep relationship during your first engagements, allow that relationship to develop in a natural and gradual way. The engagement is what opens doors to learn from eachother. That's what I shoot for
Jaylen -
01:25:09
I definitely resonate with that 100%. people have asked me if I know people after talking with others because I’m so friendly. it’s usually better for me if I know someone in the room
Jaylen -
01:26:23
never heard of that show sorry

The crazy thing about my experience was that I was driving my dads Cadillac and these reason they really pulled me over was because the "plates" didn't add up. Which I told them it was my fathers. the first cop was polite and I was extremely polite on my part. But a second cop pulled up quickly and approached my car with his hand on his gun and came to my window and told me to put my hands up and to not make any sudden movements he opened my door and took me out. He was the one that cuffed me and had me at first standing up but then face down. They searched my car for drugs and weapons. I ended up having my dad call them to verify it was his and that it wasn't stolen. The first cop to me didn't treat me any kind of way but when the second officer approached he just went with the flow and didn't say anything. I think that's a issue in itself. Someone whites recognize something is wrong but because of another they wont step up out of fear, But as Kim said it's time we stand up even if it cost us.

3 Friendship ingredients:• Proximity – live or work near each other (often not happening)• Affinity – shared experiences and interests (not there)• Spirituality – JesusMany people of difference ethnicity and cultures do not have 1 & 2 – that is often why many don’t have friends or relationships with people of color or who are white. But the 3rd one overrides the other two – Jesus makes us ONE!2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
