Can we learn more about networking on Zoom? How did that work?
Martin O'Neill

@Rachel - How are you efforts accounted for by the company? Is it a question of hours worked? Tasks completed? Are there check in and out times?
Jaya Banerji

Thanks Rachael, good to hear all about your experience with the transition to virtual life and work. You're right - the future will see a mix of comms - face to face and online - platforms. Now that we're all Zoom junkies, it will be hard to let go this extremely useful technology.

Linked to @Joannah’s question, I’d be interested to hear how you make space and foster networking and informal exchanges in virtual events.

Thanks Lizzie! :) It would be interesting to know how many of the organisations represented here have now included crisis communications in their comms menu since the start of the pandemic. We at MMV realised and experienced that it is a vital part of the 21st century comms role

Hi Robert, what do you think is an optimum number of people on a Zoom event for them to feel connected and engaged? The next challenge for us will be how to make these online platforms more sociable...

Question for the group: how have you adapted your messaging (or clients’ messaging) throughout this health crisis? As a freelance comms writer serving the corporate world it has been challenging at times to send out positive messages on achievements while keeping an appropriate tone in light of the many challenges to teams and losses to human life.
Jaya Banerji
01:22:44
Hi Mel - good question. It's a fine balance between staying authentic and genuine in your communications about your achievements and including a link to the pandemic. We make sure that the link is relevant to the topic at hand - and don't overdo it

Hi everyone, unfortunately I have to go, but I really enjoyed listening to this discussion and hope to meet you all face-to-face in 2021! Clarisse

Something I found useful was that not only the communications teams learned about how to make virtual meetings and events more interesting and interactive, but also non-communications colleagues. We recently had such a (virtual :o) for the whole team and it proved to be very useful.

@Anja, that's a good point, we've found that we in the Comms team have got our head round what can be done better virtually but we need to get better at sharing that information with our colleagues, and convincing them, when they are thinking about events
