What are the benefits of staying with OCPA versus enrolling in SoCal Edison’s Green Rate?
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
37:38
How can solar customers obtain an estimate of their power bill if they were to stay with OCPA?
Ronald Stern
38:07
will new individual meters be required

38:55
Will existing credits from Edison transfer to OCPA?

OCPA requires a new paid CEO and staff. This seems to require additional expenses. Will they be lessthan what we pay for similar expenses with SCE
OCPA Susan Davison
40:27
When in bundled SCE service, when your annual true up occurs, your existing credits are zero'd out, and they calculate if you are due NSC. This is the same process for OCPA.
OCPA - Steven Halligan
40:39
Ronald - No new meters are required.
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
40:40
Some residents have not received notifications of the switch to OCPA. Why might that be?
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
41:40
Why are residents automatically enrolled in OCPA unless they make the effort to opt out?
Colleen Reardon
42:05
I have no idea how my bill will change. How can I find out?
OCPA Susan Davison
42:07
If customers are Residential NEM, they will be enrolling closest to their annual true up. So if someone has their annual in Feb 2023, then they will enroll in Feb 2024.
OCPA Susan Davison
42:54
Colleen: There will be one extra page in your Edison bill; which will show OCPA on the page. It will include your generation, which currently just a part of your 'bundled' SCE bill.
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
43:11
What are the sources of renewable energy that OCPA has purchased? In other words, what is the mix of wind, solar, geothermal, etc.? Where can we find this information?
Ronald Stern
43:30
IF no new meters, who reports usage…SCE or ..??
OCPA Susan Davison
44:34
PCL's are always a year behind. IOUs and CCAs are currently filing their 2021 PCL's (power content labels). We will post info here.
OCPA - Steven Halligan
44:44
Ronald - Yes we receive the data from SCE.
Alana Lebron
45:23
So do we pay our electricity bill at two different companies or do we pay our bill at SCE like normal and SCE pays you from that payment?
OCPA Susan Davison
45:36
Edison still bills you; and they handle the meter, billing and the wires. Electric generation is coordinated with them, and they add an extra page into your bill that shows electricity charges from OCPA.
OCPA Susan Davison
45:43
One bill, still to Edison.
OCPA Susan Davison
45:57
We share data behind privacy walls with Edison.
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
46:21
Residents have heard that OCPA Board Members are trying to replace the CEO. Is there a timeline for the replacement?
OCPA Susan Davison
47:28
Currently, SCE has not had their PCL submitted/approved by the PUC yet. But their 2021 'draft' shows 31.4% for default/regular mix.
Ronald Stern
47:38
What is the maximal green energy the OCPA can provide those that participate. IS it more than SCE can provide?
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
48:11
Is OCPA making any changes in operations or personnel in response to the OC Grand Jury Report? Where can residents find OCPA’s written response to the report?
OCPA - Steven Halligan

Maximum green energy OCPA can provide is 100% renewable. which is 50% renewable and 50% wind.
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
49:17
In the disclaimer on OCPA’s rate comparison tool, it says that OCPA’s rates may change based on "current market prices.” Are there any plans to change the rates in the foreseeable future? How frequently might rates be changed?
Ronald Stern
50:09
For ALL potential customers it can be 100% renewable..humm
Claudia Shambaugh (she/her)
51:04
are there going to be explanations of opt out option sent out in different languages of the community?
OCPA Susan Davison
52:10
Ronald, yes, you can be 100% renewable. Please be aware each city choose which choice, Basic, Smart or 100% renewable to put their customers (residential & commercial). You have the option to choose, so you can be in any of the 3 choices, and move within those choices with no penalties.
Audrey Kapelinski
52:42
You said ceo was unanimously approved but he was the only choice presented to the board.
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
53:21
What are the estimated costs to OCPA customers (or Irvine residents) if OCPA goes bankrupt? Will OCPA customers be required to pay off OCPA’s debts?
OCPA - Steven Halligan
53:22
Our notices have been translated to 7 languages and can be found here: https://www.ocpower.org/resources/translated-materials/
Claudia Shambaugh (she/her)
54:21
Any translations being sent out in the mail? USP?
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
55:18
Some residents have heard that the more people opt in for OCPA, the cheaper the rates will become. Is this accurate?
OCPA - Steven Halligan
55:34
The notices do state they can visit the page I linked to view in those 7 languages. Also our call center can handle over 30 languages: 1-866-262-7693

My understanding is that it's very difficult to guarantee 100% renewables without a backup such as natural gas. Will you have natural gas as a backup? Do you have significant storage for wind and solar?
Kathleen Treseder (she/her)
56:25
A recent publication stated that “The electricity you receive from OCPA will remain the same to every household and business. It will be provided to your home through SCE transmission lines. However, the expectation is that the money you pay into OCPA will be used to purchase cleaner energy down the road.” Is this accurate? If not, what is a more accurate statement?
Ronald Stern
57:39
Do you purchase non-renewable enrgy?
Karl
57:45
If you choose the 100% renewable option will you still be affected by future rate increases due to the price of natural gas, for example./
OCPA Susan Davison
58:08
CCAs are focused toward cleaner energy; history has shown that CCAs have shifted the market through their Renewable energy purchases, their returning of revenue into the community via energy programs, and actually working with developers to build projects that support the more renewables across the State.

RADIO KUCI has offered community coverage. Brd members and Jung know this. This is outreach that you have not exploited.
OCPA Susan Davison
01:02:37
Karl, our 100% renewable and our 69% Smart Choice does not include natural gas in the power mix.
OCPA Susan Davison
01:03:22
Becca, our current mix is 50% solar and 50% wind for 100% renewable.
Becca

Residential customers come in on their meter read date in October - we start to serve electric generation on that date. You can use the IVR or call the Call Center and let them know which choice (Basic, Smart or 100% Renewable) you wish.
OCPA Susan Davison
01:11:57
Basic is 38% renewable; Smart is 69% renewable, and 100% renewable is 100%

The biggest issues were about the ceo and financial opaqueness of ocean.
