for perspective on how bad access to competent mental health care, my private psychiatrist recently fired me because my case is so complex. After months of searching, the closest psychiatrist I could find for treatment is in Santa Monica. This is with resources and a shitload of self-advocacy. And my case is not as complex as many people.

Mental health care is an issue in all communities - the wait for our SFUSD students is horribly long, too. Many students qualify for educationally related mental health services and the wait list for getting services can run months in “normal times” and is much longer during the pandemic.
