Tribe also noted that the citizen anti-abortion bounty hunters will have a hard time pursuing successful prosecutions against women because the vigilantes would have to produce medical records in court proving an abortion occurred and HIPPA requirements prohibit doctors and clinics from sharing this information with them. So, practically and legally speaking, it will be extremely difficult for these bounty hunters to pursue their bounty.
Robert Brown

Right wing police officers have always been around. Now they are unionizing their power and always advancing/endorsing right wing candidates.
Robert Brown
56:47
I am still wondering whether Portland’s mess was caused by right-wing individuals attacking stores and police officers letting them do it so that Black Lives Matter protestors would take the heat. There was no real effort to solve those crimes, which made me think the police were in cahoots with those who violated the law. I never saw a black body breaking and entering.

police job applications typically give extra points if the applicant has been in the military. This tends to exclude more progressive applicants.

In North Dakota in 2018, Native Americans couldn’t vote if they didn’t have a physical address. Most reservations don’t have physical addresses.
Michael S
01:06:57
No, the GOP just has a different concept of "democracy".
Roy Pardee
01:08:49
voting rights are the whole game
Robert Brown

School board issues include CRT as well, which may be the heavier reason right wingers wish to get involved.

Time to send manchin back to WV !
Robert Brown
01:16:06
Manchin, for all his evils, is a Democrat. Dems just need to have a majority of 55, so he doesn’t control the narrative as he does now.
Roy Pardee
01:16:20
Steve Vladeck over on twitter has a great thread explaining the shadow docket & how the current court has been (ab)using it

Carol McMahon

Often used to support false equivalency.
Robert Brown
01:21:09
YEAH! About freedom. I was in a store in Kalispell, Montana, and someone came up to me declaring that Fauci said I didn’t need to wear a mask. I ignored him, and he followed me down an aisle stating I didn’t need to wear one. I finally faced him and said, I have the freedom to wear a mask, thank you.. He did leave me alone then.
Roy Pardee
01:21:43
got to bolt--thank you for putting this on!
Robert Brown
01:22:40
Are any Congress people going to be put into the same district by redistricting lines? Do we know yet?
Arnold Byron
01:22:59
The Constitution needs to be changed one sentence at a time. It would be disaster to have a Constitutional Convention.

What can realistically be done to reform the filibuster??
Carol McMahon
01:23:22
Nothing Jennifer Calvert.
Jennifer Calvert
01:23:38
Why do we keep bringing it up then?
Carol McMahon
01:23:48
To remove it.
Jennifer Calvert
01:23:57
Is that realistic?
Robert Brown
01:24:11
Yes. Because it isn’t in the Constitution.
Jennifer Calvert
01:24:33
But I’m talking realistic, not just legalistic.
Michael S
01:24:38
No, but that could be said about many desirable reforms!
Jeremy Street
01:24:54
call/write your senators, write letters to the editor
Carol McMahon

It would seem the think tanks develop policy to be implemented in times of (self) advantage. The opportunity of crisis.

Arnold Byron
01:26:54
The Senate will need to change its cloture rules to make it really hard to use cloture.
Robert Brown
01:27:00
It is the Senate’s decision to tank the filibuster. 50 votes is what it takes. With the stated positions of Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, it will be hard to overcome; however, Joe has definitely stated support for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, so he may choose to support removal of the filibuster for that one issue.
Jeremy Street
01:27:50
what are the think tanks active in WA?
Carol McMahon
01:28:41
GOP eliminated the need to have 60 vote majority for confirmation. Simple majority rules there - Supreme Court as example, we now have Kavanaugh, Gorusch and Barrett as a result.
Michael S

Is that a pro-business operation?
Jennifer Calvert
01:31:32
No way…. He’s great. I’ll look further…
Carol McMahon
01:31:36
Agree that think tanks are corporate focused. They also include universities.
Michael S
01:32:37
Universities are businesses, don't forget!
Dwight rousu
01:32:48
Think tanks allow corporations to hide their advocacy for extreme corporate interests
Robert Brown
01:32:54
It was interesting that recently a think tank wanted to quash HR-1, but the researchers came back saying most of its policies were very popular. They got around the polling problems somehow.
Jeremy Street
01:34:18
How much funding from each one?
Robert Brown
01:34:41

It would be interesting to know if we could connect the dots between policy and think tanks.
Carol McMahon
01:39:22
That may answer Ron Leslie’s comment that we can’t just stereotype them.
Dwight rousu
01:39:46
And think tanks work better when there is vigorous investigative journalism to feed them.

Would Norm Ornstein be on the same page as Richard Wolff? If not, he should not be listened to and aggrandized.
