Hello everyone! Sending you all warmth & compassion! http://linkedin.com/in/alice-mcmillan-mpa-ab188554

01:00:39
How do you balance the social impact and the business impact? Is there a tension between supporting economic empowerment, or health equity and the bottom line (i.e. generating revenue)?

01:00:51
I find that we are leveraging our HBCUs to begin the pipeline to source black talent. However, there seems to be a gap at C-Suite or Executive leadership level claiming lack of resources. What is the best way to address that?

01:00:59
Question for Shanell: Does Gilead have a focus on supporting organizations that address mental health inequity impacting the Black community?

01:01:08
Rashanda Perryman - Vanguard outside of Philadelphia Q: Are these corporations incorporating employee engagement within there racial equity portfolios beyond giving? If so, How?

01:01:23
How does your grantmaking reduce barriers to entry for nonprofits seeking corporate dollars?

01:02:43
Yes, HBCUs can be a pipeline - intentional and committed engagement for the long haul with our HBCUs that only begin with internships but supports throughout the career trajectory to the C-Suite

01:02:44
YES to the community of practice!!

01:03:49
Absolutely, the Gilead COMPASS Initiative has a Center dedicated to mental health and trauma informed care at the University of Houston School of Social Work www.gileadcompass.com

01:04:04
Thank you Shanell!

01:04:37
@Susan Taylor Batten and panelists - Susan, you've talked about coalition building as a strategy for advancing equity. Do any of you have experience/examples of coalition building inside of corporations to advance a collective racial equity agenda rather than individual segments competing for limited resources?

01:06:40
Do you feel that there is a fear in addressing the community regarding social issues (such as the George Floyd murder) when your customer base does not feel that we should speak against it? How do we balance support between the community and employees? Thank you!

01:07:36
How does your organization promote trust-based philanthropy?

01:07:37
@Carolyn Berkowitz -- hi there! I think Gilead/Shanell just shared an effort inside their corporation across departments. Also in the financial services area, I would lift up JP Morgan Chase's Advancing Black Pathways Initiative.

01:07:41
A starting point for this conversation is that many companies and philanthropies have made statements supporting racial equity and racial justice. The implementation of these statements is less clear. How can we better monitor the implementation of the statements and hold companies and philanthropies accountable?

01:08:00
@Shirl it's about creating the "Beloved Community" when I thrive, we all thrive

01:10:02
Hello from Philly. How do you manage comms to the masses of your employee populations? in my world the more essential the worker, the harder it has been to let them know what/how/why to what we are doing and how get involved/benefit from our efforts.

01:11:05
@Simone Smith - trust-based philanthropy - is a shift in power. Giving the power to the grantee to drive the work

01:11:43
@shanell thank you!

01:11:44
Love that, @Shanell

01:12:26
@Marvin Carr and @Shanell McGoy- any foundational support focused on mental health needs of young people, especially the disparities of mental health resources for communities of color during COVID?

01:23:06
This has been an incredible conversation to listen in on. Thank you for your expertise and passion.

01:23:34
ACCP's recent research shows that at least ~50+% of companies in our study have confidence that the majority of organizations funded through CSR initiatives will have a racial equity mission in the future. However the degree of agreement varies greatly between BIPOC and White respondents, with 48% of BIPOC corporate philanthropists having confidence in this statement, while 65% of White CSR professionals having the same confidence.

01:23:47
Thank you, all!
