Hello Everyone.
Janelle Rainville

As someone who is fully online I would love to hear from those of you who are doing in person what you hae learned form the term

Andrea, did you have the singers masks custom-made? Or do you have a link to where you ended up getting them?
Janelle Rainville (she/her)
41:00
@Andrea & @John - did you have everyone sign on a contract of behaviour?
Andrea Lundy - NTS
42:40
no we have not had anyone sign on conduct - we just have conversations with them throughout the term and ask for them to consider their outside behaviour - small school, and they are all fairly dedicated to their training. It is still not perfect - but we feel they are listening
Andrea Lundy - NTS
43:03
I had smaller singing masks made by Diana Coatsworth Design. They are a nice size and work well for our needs

Thanks, Andrea. Much appreciated.

Sorry for the tardiness. I had a previous meeting run long.
Janice Fraser
01:00:02
Simon, did you use the basic lighting lab file that ETC put out? Or a custom one that mimics your theatre?
Don Finlayson
01:00:06
Must jump to another meeting - take care
Janice Fraser
01:01:09
Great - thank you! Interesting to hear how other schools are using it.
Roch Lavoie

I can only say we will have a work at heights class next week for a few members. we have elected a new education committee president who has projects and a lot of determination. to be continued...
Emilie Trimbee (she/her)
01:09:27
Ive been a part of a lot of ‘homework club’ sessions ( Im in my masters 100% digital right now) and I am finding that there is definitely a lot more leaning on fellow students to teach each other
Janelle Rainville (she/her)
01:10:53
I don't require video on. It can suck bandwidth for some people with spotty internet. Plus for the mental health of some students, they just can't be "on" in that way.
Emilie Trimbee (she/her)
01:11:46
^ Janelle I think that’s great. Zoom exhaustion can really magnify the burnout in students
Carla Orosz
01:12:12
we started with cameras on rule but some students may not be in an appropriate space for cameras on. school was the safe place. some are young parents or other issues that allow us into their life they are not willing to share. most of the time they keep video on but are allowed to turn off it they need.
Janice Fraser
01:12:37
I think it can be different for different circumstances… it can just be too much for students taking 5 courses at a time. But if you’re providing a one or two day certification training course, it might be different.
Janelle Rainville (she/her)
01:13:07
^^ Thank you Carla. Exactly. It is about equity in the classroom.
John Raymond (U of A)
01:13:53
We cannot require videos on at the moment. Fewer videos were on near the end of the course.
Andrea Lundy - NTS
01:14:23
If it is a small cohort of students that are connected to each other it is easier for them to leave their video on as it can connect them together as a class. But I imagine a larger class of people who don’t know each other well and don’t interact in person having cameras on doesn’t foster the same peer support
Gavin McDonald
01:14:48
That's a good way to motivate them, Patrick.
John Raymond (U of A)
01:15:23
Have to leave for another meeting. Cheers.
Esther Van Eek
01:16:02
