What aspects of your narrative do you misrepresent, or spin, in order to avoid vulnerability, embarrassment or shame?

30:01
what do you want your___ what? to know about you & why - jay, can you fill in that word?

39:25
I can't show anger or see others do it

39:43
We would love to hear from you in chat or by raising your hand.

I often create an image of myself that matches the images of people around me. If I am with athletes, I embellish my sports abilities. If I am with educators, I embellish that part of me. If I am with "working class" people, I will create a picture of myself that is like theirs.

46:18
As a corporate lawyer, I ‘ve hidden my free spirit-New Age-spiritual-sexual self. I feel like I live in a dichotomy of identities.

51:54
Good point—whether strategic or whether out of shame!

@Karen M - I’m an Empath, taking courses with Dr. Judith Orloff. Her work is so helpful for those of us who have direct access to the Intuitive or liminal realm.

Yes

54:46
When are you willing to skim off your integrity, or compromise yourself, in order to get what you want? Be specific.

59:46
Are there areas in your life where the ends justify the means in ways that your not quite comfortable with?

01:10:22
Are you saying Mark that when we're being consciously strategic we are not being transactional? Isn't the definition of lying conscious deception? What about our exploring what it feels like to be in our whole and full integrity and conscious of our own imperfection and vulnerability, altering by example the transactional user/used shallow negative-normative that underlies our current societal dysfunctionality

01:11:19
Are you saying Mark that when we're being consciously strategic we are no longer being transactional? Secondly I see how need to do this, but how about the spiritual community helping the secular to evolve? Also, isn't the definition of lying conscious deception? What about our exploring exploring what it feels like to move through life in our whole and full integrity and conscious of our own imperfection and vulnerability and also others, and working to alter by example the transactional user/used shallow negative-normative that underlies our current societal dysfunctionality

01:12:28
Second version is expresses my thought better. Thanks!!!

01:22:06
The Golden Rule is about empathy and reciprocity and mutuality. This is the exact opposite of transactional which carries with it implications of emotional, soul disconnection and how to deceive and manipulate gaining advantage over the other.

01:29:55
A Native American value of reciprocity sees what happens to the other affects the self (including impact on the earth}..The concept of a gift economy understands that each can offer their gifts which are unique.

01:30:31
I take this as my growth personally not society

01:30:40
Beautiful!
