How Our Churches Can Confront Racism and Injustice - Shared screen with speaker view
Hi everyone! I’ll send this out again in case anyone missed it. Thank you so much for joining us for this important discussion today. If you have a question for Dr. Nunes please place it in the Q&A section and use the chat only for sharing links and conversation.
I have sent a question to Pastor Peeples email
Also if you’d like for everyone to see your comment please change your blue drop-down menu to: all panelists and attendees. I’m seeing a lot of comments going to panelists only

Be part of the LWML and you will get to know many people of various ethnic backgrounds!
A few years ago.

that's a shame -
I used Al Gore's internet to find out
Paul - LOL
WHAT A LINE-if they're not at the table, they're on the menu...oof
A great line indeed
Nothing about them without them
Yes - He wants people to assimilate that haha - it's in a couple of his videos :)
That's a great analogy by Matt
I made a goal to develop relationships with several African American friends the last few years. I asked one of these friends to mentor and coach me on his experience as a black man growing up on the south side of Chicago. I attended his mega-church with him last year with 5000 worshipers. I was one of 10 or so white people. What a learning experience! We sometimes make this too hard. It's really about connecting with others different then you and listening to their story. I still am learning and have a long way to go on my journey.
that is a wonderful image - an eternal, transcendent, heavenly tribe
My wife was at that LCEF webinar and was messaging during it. I had to finish VBS recording quickly to join asap
I’ve been saying a lot of Amens out loud!
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.[a] 13 And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
Don’t apologize this was great
No need to be sorry! This was excellent! Thank you!
Can we view in “gallery view”? So we can see both speakers?
What a great question!
I hear a lot about the racist history of the LCMS. How should we respond to this?
YES! ON THE SONGS!
Amen! Catholic church
AMEN! Yes! Worship!
Deaconess Linda Seward
yes Celtic music!
as long as it isn't country ;)
Inclusion needs to be in the little things and not just the grand gestures
Good music is GOOD music. Enough said.
Sandra Van Opstal has a great book on this, The Next Worship: Glorifying God in a Diverse World
To the diversity of music, that is...
Waiting for a Jazz arrangement of the LSB
James Miller has a Jazz Liturgy that he wrote for the LSB
Nice! Now do Metal!
Check on KC Gospel Orchestra (probably on Facebook)!
He’s at Trinity Nashville, IL
I’d love to see that!
Hymnal project also has a lot of different arrangements and styles of hymns https://www.thehymnalproject.com/

YES! Accountability, Elders
pretty much was denying Christ to them
Thank you both for hosting this conversation.
Dr. John, would you apply the 6 steps you presented earlier with student ministry? Or would you encourage some modification? Student Ministry means 7th-12th grades.
Thank you for addressing the BLM issue
what an analogy...so true
Yup, politics is not an idol. We are not defined by one political party!
Absolutely; folks from diverse races, political, and socioeconomic backgrounds must meet on COMMON GROUND; primarily our UNITY in Christ. CHURCH MUST LEAD!!!
Yes, yes, yes! "Work within it to redeem it." Thank you so much, Dr. Nunes for sharing such powerful stories and points!
I'm working on listening more and more so appreciate this opportunity and Dr. Nunes' words and hope we can meet again soon!
yes! we are to quiet..but that's changing by the grace of God
Watch the movie Just Mercy - It is free right now on many platforms
This has been a remarkable presentation--Biblically and theologically founded to respond to the realities of the world--the Church has a great chance to share the leavening of Christ for all people.
I second that about Just Mercy-eye opening
I once heard Nunes say that LCMS stands for "Love Covers a Multitude of Sins" which is worth thinking about. We can confess our sins!
Wow! This conversation has been rich! Amen!
I am so grateful for this time. Thank you both so much.
Thank you for this. I hope that these sessions will be able to continue.
Great webinar and conversation. Thank You? Where do we go from here?
:) getting past the clickbait! Love it, Dr Nunes!

At the next session, I would love to hear Rev. Nunes's feelings on the new CTCR document.
Thank you so much.
I have been reading: “The Color of Compromise: The Truth about the American Church’s Complicity in Racism” by Jemar Tisby - lots of history. Very good.
THanks so much!
