Here in Washington State and across the country, we are all on indigenous lands. I ask you to join me in acknowledging the native communities where you live, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. If you don’t know the indigenous land where you reside on, you can look it up here: https://native-land.ca/

Thomas is a sexual harasser. Putting a sexual harasser on the Supreme Court erodes its respect. So if Thomas wants more respect for the Supreme Court, he should resign

Airports are great places to encourage people to vote.
David Gordon
47:18
what does "pre register to vote" mean?
Jeremy Chase
47:52
At David: means they go into a database and are “activated” when they become eligible.

yeah, thanks David--I'm puzzled by that too
Roy Pardee
01:13:20
is it a matter of ppl *not* voting maybe?
Jeremy Chase
01:14:01
Yep! And a few other factors like poll expungements & voting accessibility.
Matthew Munsey
01:14:17
Democrats tend to pack themselves into dense areas, so those areas are more heavily tilted towards Dems, but there are fewer of them.
Jeremy Chase
01:14:37
Gerrymandering adds to the scales becoming unbalanced.
David Gordon
01:15:10
to Matthew: but then that large # of people packed into a Democratic area would mean that most Americans live in districts that went for Clinton.
. Nancy Street
01:16:55
If Roe Vs. Wade is overturned, there will probably be more people from red states moving into the blue states. Spokane is expecting Idahoans coming over to use our medical services like the did when we had a lot of Covid.
Matthew Munsey
01:18:25
@David: maybe still fewer actual districts - because many Trump districts still have a sizable number of Democrats/Clinton voters who nonetheless are a bit outnumbered within their district. Especially if those districts were intentionally gerrymandered to maximize the number of R districts.
Jenna Manchester
01:18:50
We need more teamwork between city Democrats and rural Democrats. I grew up as a city Democrat, but there are so many issues that impact rural areas that I wasn't aware of until I moved to a rural area. Dems can't fight against rural areas because they're generally more conservative, we need to work with rural Democrat stakeholders to incorporate rural solutions too. 😁
. Nancy Street
01:19:50
to Jenna: I agree wholeheartedly. Some rurals think the democrats ignore them and their ussues.
. Nancy Street
01:20:21
Sorry I have to leave. Very interesting topic!
David Gordon
01:22:36
@matthew: I think I see what you mean. So the Trump districts are just barely Trump. But the Clinton districts and overwhelmingly Clinton. That allows the "more people for Clinton" and the "more districts for Trump". To get the "more people in districts for Trump", we need to have the Trump districts have greater population (in total) than the Clinton districts. I think visually--I'd like to see this with red and blue dots with lines to make the districts.
Jenna Manchester
01:24:37
Fox, OAN, Newsmax, far-right radio and podcasts. It's a manipulative bubble!
Martha Burke
01:25:27
Just because whites may no longer be in the majority doesn't mean that people will be more progressive or Democratic. Many of these groups are moving conservative including Asian and Hispanic.

agreed. overpopulation is a huge source of current problems. Arnold, right on.

Yes, there is ever increasing population. We are extracting more resources, to support the population, than the Earth can regenerate.
