On that note, the term "Administrators" is a bit of a stumbling block--it implies sort of a binary (we administer a program or we don't). We need a notion of membership that encompasses other stakeholders. This is important for institutional support as well--as a former WPA, it's hard to make a case for travel support to attend a CWPA Conference (though I'm no less invested in the work--just applying it less directly).
Traci Gardner (she, her, hers)
01:01:24
Yes, I run into this conundrum all the time. I feel as if I don't really "belong" because I'm not an admin so my comments may not be valued (not that I'm BIPOC)
Megan McIntyre
01:02:07
Caring about programmatic issues is what differentiates us, I think.
Lynn Reid
01:02:18

Maybe a more capacious definition of WPA work and identity? Also, being sure that our language and resources have relevance for WPAs that aren't leading FYC programs, like WAC admin, writing center admins...
Dominic DelliCarpini
01:03:37
I agree, Jeanne. It is about "administering" writing programs, which is a shared task. We are about how to do that well, and so to exercise some oversight. So, even with our name, "administering writing" is a nice addition.

A discussion guide would be so helpful
Traci Gardner (she, her, hers)
01:07:45
And NCTE had resources for Community of Practice style things that matched videos and reading resources with discussion questions people could do.

A dean might watch a video--they won't read an article.

Yes! I love this - discussion helps foster that layer of action that’s often missing

thank you, Megan. book clubs/ speakers alone don’t lead to change.
Lynn Reid

They don't have time to read an article!
Traci Gardner (she, her, hers)
01:08:21
So the point is that there are models out there for what Megan is talking about.
