I took a class at Purdue for social media marketing and video editing, and it has helped TREMENDOUSLY with my advocacy. I can not stress enough how important a tool social media is for this kind of outreach.

If I meet with my representative via video call, if they seem to be open to "fun", I plan to ask them to hold out a hand, and I'll hold a little zebra I keep on my desk over their hand so it looks like they are holding it! haha
Sunny Ammerman

Consider branding your story too! When I launched into my advocacy, I had a friend help me come up with a hashtag to share pieces of my journey. If anyone wants to know more, then they can click that hashtag for my story as well as my advocacy efforts.

Hi Barby. A lot of the meetings with staffers will be conference calls. We have asked that the meetings with Members be on zoom.
Sunny Ammerman
53:18
I've got a greenscreen setup behind me to make my zoom calls look way more professional, using zoom's "virtual background" tool (in the settings) so nobody has to see my house. I have a custom background I made with the Rare Action Network logo and a zebra pattern that isn't overbearing. I can show my setup if anyone is interested in seeing how it works!
Rachel Hiles
