Valerie, I’m halfway through Chilling Effect and OH MY GOD.
Fort Lauderdale here!

This reading eases the pain of not being able to go to SF fandom cons, a little. Thanks, writers and Ivy!
Having read both, yes, they are working in similar spaces and vibes that readers of one are more likely to enjoy the other.
IM OBSESSED WITH THE VOICES YOU’RE GIVING THEM OMG!
Vakar sounds like Spock when you read him, and honestly that’s how I hear him in my head.
Now would be a great time to put your questions in this chat box : )
Bravo to both!
Both of your novels really feature found families, and that seems to be a theme in novels lately. Why do you think that is and what do you like in your own found family stories that you read?
Valerie, as a fellow SoFla author trying to traditionally publish, what was your revision process / query process like?
ALSO, more importantly, Can you describe exactly what Vakar looks like? I see him as like… a giant bug humanoid?
Mike, What was your favorite chapter or scene sequence to write in Annihilation Aria?
Both of your novels are not "Hard" SF but rather rely on characters and situations and social ties more than the design and heavy technical specs of a hyperdrive. What draws you both to write in that space rather than with the "net up"?
GIRL, NO. I MUST KNOW LMAO. I stan Vakar and Eva and I NEED TO KNOW.
How do you like using food and the rituals and details of food to explore culture, worldbuilding and character?
I think I asked too many :)
I appreciate your answers! :)
Also, the biggest congrats for getting the green light for a third in the series, Valerie!
Dang I want to game with both of you.
Wow, thank you. I appreciate both of your insight! I’m mentally prepared for a long road, it’s almost comforting to know its the norm.
Thank you both for doing this
This was great
