Cean James' Zoom Meeting - Shared screen with speaker view
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford
15:54
Cean, can we have a copy of your PP slides at the end
Jason Stump
18:49
Hello everyone! I will wait to a good time to ask about PP slides. I won’t forget…:-)
Jason Stump
19:25
Also, feel free to chime in as well if he doesn’t mention it.
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
37:10
Yes! The music is very challenging!
Anne Cormier
37:56
We've been able to put recorded music directly into the Zoom Powerpoint and it works well.
Tammie Wisniewski
38:14
I find that when I am sharing music through zoom, I have to blast it in my ears and then everyone can hear it pretty well.
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
38:58
I have been a music minister for many years, with a strong preference for live music. This has been a challenge for me.
Bonnie Moore
39:35
Yes - we pre-record music and imbed it into powerpoint slides along with words for Zoom so people can sing along "muted but out loud"
Kathy Pioggia
40:52
not sure we have many who can HOST Zoom successfully
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
47:11
Thanks all. I will have to start making my peace with recording.
Kathy Pioggia
48:14
our folks prefer live recording so they can participate in prayer time and sharing joys and concerns
Angelee Benner-Smtih
49:56
How about live streaming at the usual church time.
Stephanie Anne Thompson
50:02
St. Stephen's UCC, Perkasie, where Jeff Wargo is pastor is pre-recording. Jeff, who is my husband, reaches out to members of the church and asks them to record portions of the worship. Music is pre-recorded. He then weaves it all together- including his sermon. So while it is pre-recorded worship, there are a team of people- different every week- who participate.
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
50:40
I think having someone who can "weave it all together" is also a challenge.
Stephanie Anne Thompson
51:10
It is certainly a challenge- and an investment of time. It is an idea though.
Tammie Wisniewski
51:16
agreed Caroline
Jason Stump
51:57
I’ve learned a lot but in honestly, I’m the only one doing all the editing and weaving. We just don’t have those folks right now to do that. It takes a lot of time. When we “go back” this is going to be an even greater time challenge
Angelee Benner-Smtih
53:22
we have been doing the live streaming the whole time and people can comment, or add prayers in the chat space.
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
53:22
Thanks for your ideas, everyone! I think a bigger issue that I have discussed with other music ministers is where is the line between being a music minister and tech person. Jobs change over time, so just like the pastors, our jobs are changing.
Anne Cormier
54:26
What do people use for the editing app?
Jason Stump
54:45
I use iMovie on my phone. Any others?
Angelee Benner-Smtih
55:02
we don't edit.
Gail Comden
55:07
DaVinci Resolve
Debbie Derby
55:10
We’ve had problems with the internet with live-streaming, so we record our in-person worship and upload it after th service to Facebook
Linda Kozlowski
57:37
We have been doing that all along. Livestream on Facebook and then upload to our website and YouTube.
Angelee Benner-Smtih
57:56
following the livestream we have a "Zoom" fellowship
Gail Comden
59:05
Zwingli UCC: we livestream to Facebook live. We separately record the service, edit and post to youtube.
Linda Kozlowski
01:00:26
We have music playing during that waiting time.
Selina Hamilton she/her
01:09:36
We’re pre-recording our organ music rather than playing the organ live in services.
Gene Burke
01:09:59
Great idea!
Deborah
01:14:37
Liturgy need not be or feel rigid. The familiar words of the historic church can well give comfort and security to our people in these times.
Gene Burke
01:17:44
Exactly…remember that this change in the normal way we do things in church has indeed changed. Regardless of how we are doing service now, your congregants are feeling disconnected from worship. So doing songs that they know and enjoy helps to make them feel more connected to worship and promotes engagement.
Lance Warren
01:18:35
I just purchased some cords for my mixer, came to the conclusion my sound was horrible.
Debbie Derby
01:20:16
we use and iPad, and it picks up our sound system without being connected to it. Our sound system speakers are in the front of the sanctuary, which helps.
Gene Burke
01:20:48
Lance - It helps to have a skeleton staff: a liturgist, a musician, a sound tech, etc…your essential staff. People who can oversee areas that you can not to make sure things run smoothly.
Lance Warren
01:22:51
It’s the truth Gene
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford
01:22:57
Sounds like a tech person could be a paid position
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
01:23:56
On one of the Conference Zoom calls, one of the pastors mentioned moving toward having a paid tech minister or digital minister.
Lance Warren
01:24:08
we need desperately a tech team
Jason Stump
01:25:17
I think it’s important to remember that we can’t be afraid to fail in order to grow. We learn from mistakes, especially in our unique contexts.
Gene Burke

01:31:23
do you have to put the instruments in the system as well
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
01:31:35
What do you do with acoustic piano
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
01:32:03
I tried to do acoustic piano on my iPhone and the comments were that it was "tinny"
Caroline Dunleavy-ECS Philadelphia
01:32:26
What if you as a musician broadcast from home
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford
01:35:48
you must know that there is much more to the secretaries job than answering phones!
Deborah
01:36:15
yes, they are ley to ministry too
Fatima Burke
01:36:47
As a former Secretary, I do agree!
Angelee Benner-Smtih
01:36:59
Yes, but when you are hire ring the office person he/ she must be tech savvy.
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford
01:37:46
I was a sec. too. Ye, must be tech savvy too.and very much a ministry
Liz Brunton
01:38:08
I like this idea. I think the truth of our individual small size congregations with variant levels of tech savvy makes the idea of identifying a person or persons within their congregation who can do all this magic is making this feel desparate.
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford
01:42:47
Can a new church start and stay on a virtual platform?
Angelee Benner-Smtih
01:43:19
how would I know the best software for our particular church? what kind of cost are we thinkning?
Jason Stump
01:43:21
I will make sure we ask this. But there are entire congregations that have done this in the past.
Debbie Derby
01:44:03
what speed internet is needed to livestream? we upgraded to 300 mbps but it still wont work for live streaming.
Austin Chinault
01:44:40
how about large screen tv?
Bob Fogal
01:51:23
We've learned that the stone structure of our 150+ year old church makes using wifi in the church impossible.
Tammie Wisniewski
01:51:48
wifi boosters help Bob
Jeff Johnson
01:52:27
We are using a wifi extender to bring wifi into our sanctuary despite the stone structure of our building.
Wanda Schwandt, Trinity Telford

I would like to be involved in a virtual church!
