Is there a low-cost/fees way to invest in passive equity indices without problematic assets (fossil fuels, prison-industrial, etc?) If so, what does that risk/return profile look like compared to benchmarks?

Speaking of diversification and slightly off topic — do either of you know why utilities are fighting the transformation to alternative energy instead of choosing to add that business to their own? Seems like such a short-sighted business decision to me.
