school districts have been coordinating with some afterschool program staff to include in the 2a vaccination effort

25:10
All my staff is registered and will be done by the end of the week!

25:13
Encouraging Vaccines but having many opt out.

25:29
Ardis Yahna, Children Unlimited - shared an update on the vaccines in Carroll County. One of our local hospitals, Memorial Hospital in North Conway, was able to open up a vaccination pod last Saturday morning the 20th. Children Unlimited and our local Public Health did the outreach to centers across Carroll County. We included Childcare Centers and Rec Centers and reached out to 33 programs. 106 vaccinations were given at the closed pod clinic last Saturday to individuals from 25 child care and rec centers across the county. Their 2nd vaccines are scheduled for another Saturday pod on April 10th. Wanted to share because it was a great collaborative opportunity and such a success!!

25:31
Fully vaccinated! Nashua public health went awesome

25:31
Do you see many staff choosing not to get vaccine?

25:35
Only 50% of my staff were willing to get vaccinated which was a big disappointment to me but I cannot force them to do so. Fortunately, the local SAU55 allowed us to become part of their closed POD.

25:36
only 6 out 16 got first dose, all others are not choosing to get.

25:46
Only half of staff being vaccinated

25:58
My helper has had her first shot

26:02
Walgreens is not asking for proof that we work in childcare centers.

26:05
I've been fully vaccinated since January because I work perdiem elsewhere, my staff are opening it up to the idea.

26:06
12/15 vaccinated ( first dose)

26:11
19 our staff were able to get their first vaccine at the Carrol County Child Care Only clinic that Memorial hosted last Saturday. To date, we have 31 of 40 who have started and/or completed their vaccination process. We should have the majority fully vaccinated around April 10.

26:12
Most are receiving the vaccine. Several have had severe reaction which is causing others to not want to get vaccine.

26:32
In the Upper Valley the Public Health Network also coordinated two clinics for schools/child care in the last week/this weekend

26:37
All staff 1st shot!

26:39
This is pretty concerning. I wonder what is keeping all these folks from being vaccinated

26:47
Yes! Katie -- The collaboration and clinic was fabulous.

26:49
I have 16 staff that are getting vaccinated. 4 are choosing not to vaccinate.

27:05

They are unsure of the safety of the vaccine....

28:02
staff will not said there were fertility concerns and not just not understanding the vaccine, scared it came out too soon,

28:04
some staff don't think vaccination has been strong long enough

28:04
22 will be vaccinated by this Friday. 4 are young and opting not to. Concerned about fertility issues.

28:06
getting bad information from non medical sources

28:07
Nervous about side effects and safety

we have half getting as well and half are choosing not to. Many are worried about the side effects and long term issues

28:13
certificate please Mary Curtis Mary's Child Care mhpcurtis@gmail.com

28:18
Some of our staff are young and are worried about having children (reproductive concerns) and do not want the vaccine

28:19
I did not ask why, but my staff is all in the same age bracket 19-25.

28:32
No reason for choosing NOT to be vaccinated. They wont even discuss. we've even offered an incentive and have explained the importance of safety in our center.

28:35
We had an LPRN come in and talk privately one on one to those who had concerns. That led to 4 of 9 to decide to do it.

28:35
those choosing not to vac concerned about how quickly it was created and not enough info on long term effects

29:02
13 out of 18 are getting the vaccine. 1 cannot right now due to doctor's orders due to side affects of Covid. A few are not because they are sure of the "long term affects". Trying not to force the issue, but I am strongly encouraging

29:13
I have received my first vaccine. Second scheduled mid- April 4 weeks after the first even though with Pfizer I'm eligible to get it after 3 weeks.

29:23
Only had 2 not get the vaccination. I helped them all register and spread out the shot. Educate, educate, educate. They listen to others. Also, concern about needing to pay for it

29:24
Some directors have shared that they had staff who thought they had to pay for the vaccine and it made a difference when they learned they are not charged

29:28
I'm fully vaccinated and my assistant has had her first shot. I've heard several reasons why people are getting vaccinated. Concern about side effects. Does not want the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and won't sign up if she can't choose which vaccine she gets. Suspicious about how quickly the vaccines have rolled out.

29:28
Many are concerned about getting it given that they are planning to start a family. Data around pregnacy safety important to clarify.

30:26
they are only asking for your drivers ID

30:33
sweet

31:24
Walgreens asked for Dl and insurance card

31:31
Same Mimi for us. Travel is still an "issue" for us as our board is following CDC quarantine guidelines not states.

31:43
My key staff are salaried so they get paid whether they are quarantining or not. I wish I could convince them to get vaccinated.

32:17
no increase

32:21
We are not increasing fees but when I select no it wont allow me to submit.

32:23
we are not increasing but I had to select an amount to submit my response

32:26
I don't charge weekly. I charge hourly.

32:31
If you answer no you can't submit

32:43
No increases here. Unable to submit if my answer is no.

32:56
You cannot submit if you say 'no'

33:07
this is the year for the state rate increase so some use that as a basis

34:03
will you send out those survey % to us?

34:15
My biggest reason for not getting the vaccine is there are NO long term studies. This virus has not been around long enough to see what the long term effects could be. , but I am not willing to.

34:42
I agree @Traci

34:53
No increase however other things that will increase my salary family group

35:16
We cant serveor make money if we don't have the staff

35:19
increase may depend on state reimbursement rate increase

36:18
Increase because I can’t find employees

36:26
New staff with no credentials and no experience are asking for $15/ HR to start

36:58
Do we know when the state reimburse rate increase will be in effect?

37:13
I am planning to sell my center and realtors asked me to provide a Profit and Loss for 2020. I went from a profit of $105,000 in 2019 to $400 in 2020. My business is alive but it is crippled.

37:29
July 1, usually

37:51
Linda- that's heartbreaking

38:01
I went through my savings, both PPP's I am stuck in a funnel slowly going downward

38:33
My top choice is staffing crisis!

38:46
I'm with Mimi!

38:48
Same as others - our reserve is gone, we received two PPP loans which will be used by August, so we need to raise parent fees starting July 1. And we are fortunate to be able to draw on our investments (in the neighborhood of nearly a quarter of a million dollars last year and next).

38:56
I’m with Mimi

38:57
I'm with Mimi too

39:06
I agree @mimi

39:58
have a feeling I know which one will receive the most votes for this one...

40:16
If the extra money from unemployment doesn’t end soon more daycares will shut down due to lack of staff

41:16
Agree that staffing costs are increasing. Cost to hire, pay and onboard them. It's a catch 22, parents can't afford to pay more for child care and programs cannot afford to absorb the costs.

42:04
Agree with Sally

42:22
You are not alone Jessica! So many of us are experiencing the same thing.

42:52
Agree!

43:22
Yes, there are programs that have had ad's out for every type of position for 6 mo-1 yr and still haven't been able to hire. It is crippling programs/providers!

44:07
I have a staff member interested in joining the task force. How can she do that?

44:15
I have not been fully staffed since we reopened in June 2020.

44:22
Pay those who are taking care of children, by coming to work each day. not those who aren't working. we are taking a big chance putting that aside, for the good of the staff, families, communities

45:01
FOR CERTIFICATE. YENIS DAY CARE. Yeni Dominguez and Francisca Lopez at. will08071981@hotmail.com

45:24
I agree with you Donna

45:43
Its definitely a catch 22. Income losses, Family needs, wait lists and lack of staffing to increase enrollment

46:13
certificate Janet Bauer Windy Hill jbauer@colby-sawyer.edu

47:04
I think the high schools should be promoting the field for future college students, as well as community colleges. I have had academic advisors for ECE promote elementary ed to my staff who are in school for ECE

47:26
I had all my federally consolidated student loans forgiven after working for nonprofits for 10 years. It was a long haul but worth it!

47:48
We are losing/competing with degreed preschool qualified teachers to public schools (understandably) due to pay and School Care insurance which is what teachers get (and is fabulous coverage).

48:16
So group insurance is a great idea for many...

48:42
Kristy Rose Staffing Crisis Task Force krose@riseforbabyandfamily.org and Melissa Tardiff Staffing crisis task force mtardiff@riseforbabyandfamily.org

48:53
Great to know about student loan forgiveness. Although that must be for those working in non-profits, not child care centers who are forced to provide low wages so it does not impact family costs.

48:54
Forget non profits. They should do it for any child care center staff!

51:28
Unfortunately, the Feds do not pro-rate service at non-profits, so you have to do the full time. Historically, there are a lot of complications and barriers with that process.

52:07
I have a big wait list for a small town, my staff is getting burn out, from working OT to meet the demands of our community. Burn out that will reduce my staff even more

52:11
We are under DHHS... we provide an important human service. Why couldn't early childhood teachers be considered state employees in regards to benefits and salary subsidies?

52:42
Good point Pauka

52:45
Yes, it's for nonprofits only and you have to work the equivalent of full time which the Feds interpret as 30+ hrs so while good for those that meet the criteria, too many are shut out.

52:46
oops Paula

52:52
Paula I totally agree and don't understand why not!!

53:35
The primary reason many women work in child care is that they can be with their children who are enrolled at the center. Once their children move on to public school, they are ready to move on to a different career.

54:19
Thank you Senator Whitley!

55:01
Thank you Senator Whitley for your commitment and personal passion.

55:30
We aren't giving our future citizens the strong foundation they deserve. One day, one of those children will be feeding us in a home. hopefully better then we are able to do for them at this time

57:05
Thank you Senator Whitley for all you do for child care. We need your voice!

57:33
Thank you Senator!

57:51
Thank you senator Whitley

57:56
My experience is that programs owners/directors, the child care workforce, and parents are spread so thin that they often do not have the time to testify, advocate, or keep caught up on the issues.

58:13
Thank you, Senator Whitley... Thank you for your support!!

58:17
yes Sally

58:44
We have a child who loved learning about space when he was 3 who is now in a Space Exploration Agency in Florida. We KNOW we make a difference.....

58:53
Sallie Mae is not eligible for loan forgiveness. How do we help our employees work around that

59:13
Thank you Senator Whitley

59:14
Thank you Senator Whitley and Mary Jane Wallner!!!! We are glad you are there sharing our message.

59:15
We need more women/moms who DO want to get back to work to join us in our endeavors...Unemployment for women is still high....while the levels for men I believe are back to the same pre-pandemic levels.

01:00:17
My daughter grew up with my child care and has chosen to go in to the field helping children and young adults with autism. We're impacting these little humans.

01:00:52
Any idea on how NH will prioritize ESSER II funds to distribute? Through Title I, 21 CCLC, or other mechanisms?

01:01:49
Great story Jackie!

01:02:08
Our son grew up in childcare, and is now teaching special needs high school students!

01:02:20
I serve the working poor. Working moms who work to get health insurance. Working moms who make a little after they pay for child care but need that small amount to make sends meet. Working moms who do not want to lose their career path while they have children from birth to entrance into public school. Even public preschool and Kindergarten do not meet the needs of full time working moms.

01:03:57
Yes, I am a "private" company, we serve families with the same families that "non-Profits" provide. I have families on state scholarships, families who just make it financially. The extras comes out of my own pocket, to help these families have quality care. Thanks to organizations like CCRR, SELA, DHHS, it has helped us to stay in business. even before Covid

01:05:42
Our licensing rules also have to be realistic in relation to what the field and programs are experiencing in real time. Programs need a moratorium and/or reprieve from rules that are now creating a barrier to staffing and operations. We need rules that keep children safe, but we also need to have programs able to stay open to provide that care.

01:05:55
Yes Sally

01:07:01
This year I had to hire a one on one teacher to assist a 2 year old that will be on an IEP, Without that one on one, that child would not thrive and there is no child care center that I can refer the family to..... we need full time child care centers for families with children with disabilities who need early intervention.
