Peak founder learnings: Raising VC capital with Whale & Studocu - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
@Gary Vanbutsele, how did you built that VC/angel investors network?
How much traction have you gained before raising (no. of paying users, stage the product was in, etc.)?
@Gary Vanbutsele, when would you seek an intermediary to help you raise money? And is an accelerator a good way to raise?
If you could put a multiple on the value of 'smart money', how much more value would you get if the VC or angel investor can help and is specialised in your branch?
Do you think that the amount of help an investor is wiling to give is dependant on the % stake the investor has? So for example will an investor with 5% not help as much as someone with 25%? And how much % is good to give up in every stage? So round A no more than 30% or in round C no more than 50%? (As a general rule of thumb…)
Just to check, what do you mean with double digits :)?
What traction should you minimally have to raise money (as a rule of thumb)?

@Gary - Why did you decide to raise the round with two separate funds?
So say you get €500k as seed, and it is smart money could you say the value is €500k*3=€1.500.000?
What is the pain point that Whale overcomes and how does the platform work?
happy to share my experience: email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for the information @Gary. Very useful.
@Marnix Broer did the investors like the free/subscription model of Studocu / what competitive advantage did they like?
@Marnix Broer, do you think the document space is a space where the there will be one winner and you need to get cash to grow on top?
@marnix > you then got the money "freely to spend" or was it earmarked?
Where did the investment need to be spent in order to accelerate growth?
What do you tink about pitch decks vs business plans?
underpromise & overdeliver
