sorry I came in late - I am here in part because i am searching for prayers of gratitude when collecting eggs from my birds. It has been many years I have been wondering. I think there is a prayer for shooing a bird off a nest, since it is against halakha to collect eggs from under a nesting bird, but none of gratitude for taking them

when my mental health is the worst, saying the brachot especially over food helps me reconnect to reasons for living

I've started using blessings in the garden to teach my son and help him have a connection. I appreciate opportunities to see blessings broken down like this.

I think the blessing is more of a committment to caring for the land and the animals for ongoing stewardship, through shmita, etc. than a blessing for the moment of harvest

Is there a reason the blessing traditionally used right before eating something couldn’t be used at the moment of harvesting it

not blessing at the harvest feels similar to not announcing the name of a child until however many days after birth

You mentioned a blessing every time it rains... here in western Washington, where we basically live in a terrarium, it often rains for hours or all day, or days- what is appropriate frequency of blessing?

That is really not in the spirit of the law, it seems so wrong to think land doesn’t need to rest just because it isn’t owned by a jew

If more people engaging in land had awareness to the last line, it would be so different...

I think I would use the first four lines regularly, and the full version perhaps at a reflective time
