Are there any Bills that may have Park money in them, that we could talk to our local Rep about?

45:08
How many people are involved in reading and analyzing legislation for budget proposals?

46:51
Is there going to be a chance to interact and share budget priorities? Ask questions?

47:51
when will there be a budget bill?

51:04
How is 2346 different than AB 209 passed by Limon?

51:05
LA Nature For All have been working hard to increase access to public lands such as the San Gabriel Mountains and parks

53:03
This year a day pass doubled in price from $5 to $10. That seems to conflict with the state's effort to increase access. Can that be addressed?

53:52
please plant native milkweed!

55:07
I would also like to add that LA NATURE FOR ALL have been pushing for more public transportation to and from Parks… especially for underprivileged communities.

55:33
use an example of how you use State Patks to effectively advocate with a local Rep

55:50
What about funding for opportunity purchases to expand State Parks, especially in urban/developing areas?

56:59
Look up your legislators here: https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

58:33
A recently introduced bill that could also be added under Equitable Access is AB 2975. This bill creates a framework for CA State Parks to work more collaboratively with community-based orgs to increase access. It was just introduced last week, so it didn’t make it on the list yet. Here are more details: https://openstates.org/ca/bills/20212022/AB2975/

59:20
Twitter is not a really great way because it can become toxic. I have used it and people or ‘bots’ are really toxic.

59:26
I had to deactivate it.

59:39
I prefer LinkedIn.

59:49
Thanks Les! We will definitely take a look.

01:02:27
Big issue State Parks staffing shortages??

01:03:44
Thanks Rachel! Outdoor Outreach is sponsoring this bill and has been working closely with the Committee on Water, Parks, and Wildlife in developing it. We’d be happy to share more.

01:04:07
Any comments on the current destruction in State Capitol Park?, it appears a bunch of trees are being removed for construction? Should we be worried about it and the future for other parks?

01:05:00
Many local parks lack shade trees. We would like to see more shade trees planted and cared for also.

01:05:37
will there be a hybrid online portion of state park advocacy day on 5/17 ?

01:05:54
Tell us how to be part of the States park Fair (CSPRA)

01:06:03
thank you for this informative webinar!

01:06:47
I have contacted local officials but they tell me there “isn’t funding available”. Which is misleading because the local police department receives over $3 Billion in annual funding and city officials are not diverting enough resources to nonprofits ans funding for local parks.

01:07:56
please repeat bill #. ty

01:08:42
My Assembly-member is Luz Rivas

01:09:56
Please note TPL is working with the offices of E. Garcia to circulate the Assemblymember's Budget request for the Outdoor Education Grant Program and the Statewide Local Park Program. Email me if you have questions

01:10:42
$200 million Outdoor Equity $800m for Statewide Local Parks

01:13:13
Does PLA have a position on AB 2377 introduced in Feb to establish a Chief of Wildfire Prevention in Natural Resources Agency?

01:13:44
While the parks support for restoration and maintenance of non-motorized trails... are there any plans for parks to increase motorized access within state parks to provide equity of access for disabled persons to also have opportunities to enjoy state parks?

01:15:04
Prioritization of non-motorized access presents an ableist bias against disabled persons.

01:15:10
Here is the blog post we wrote on the Governor's proposed budget for FY 22-23: https://www.calparks.org/blog/governor-newsoms-proposed-2022-23-budget-prioritizes-climate-resiliency-equal-access-state

01:15:42
Please address redistricting

01:16:12
oh no! not the trees in Capitol Park :(

01:16:36
thanks, Rose. I agree!

01:16:55
Inadequate staffing is a big issue - agree on need to address.

01:17:47
Parks staffing should be better addressed in July with implementation of the parks plan by Director Quintero

01:18:07
Also, ADA trails are important for all.

01:18:40
I agree with @Gae on ADA accessibility for those with limited mobility

01:19:09
My mom was disabled and I struggled to get her to certain parks while she was on a wheelchair.

01:19:26
As someone who has recently been required to start using a mobility scooter, I totally agree on the need for ADA trails!

01:20:29
30 x30 needs some redirection for access and focus on existing parks

01:20:49
Tell us about the State Parks Fair on Park Advocacy Day, please.

01:21:52
CA State Parks Dept has been remis in answering email or letter inquiries from some of our members. It use to be standard operating procedure that someone would answer requests or inquiries.

01:22:02
With the Cal Parks approach to the 30x30 initiative take account for the fact that over 20% of public land in CA is already designated wilderness or designated roadless areas? Any addition of land as wilderness designations will increase beyond the 30x30 goal...

01:22:09
Thanks.

01:22:13
