To me, we elect our legislature to sort the fairness of the budget appropriately, and am loathe to question it without context.

I feel that participatory democracy (direct elections) should supercede representative democracy. The later seem paternalistic to me. Consider: would you rather have a benign and enlightened dictatorship, or a flawed democracy? I would choose the latter--part of being a real human being.

Would the electorate all have the necessary time to fully understand things on the federal, state and local levels and make educated votes on everything?

I remember seeing a video on RCV that used the example of choosing a flavor of ice cream, which really helped me to understand how it worked. I wonder how feasible it would be to create a website that let groups of ppl use RCV to make real-life decisions like e.g., what topping to get on a pizza, what movie to see, etc...

I lived in Sydney Australia from 2002 - 2010 and they use RCV. It works very well.

Eliminating spoilers with Ranked Choice Voting is supporting democracy. RCV will not favor candidates who receive a minority of the votes.

Ranked Choice Voting does not favor any party.

I agree with Ken that we should not be afraid of some outcomes that might not go "our way". Our system should have integrity in both intention and mathematics.

Plus this systems supports consensus building rather than polarization.

I like what you're saying Dwight - What's really sad is having a Supreme Court that says we must look at the founding fathers and use their lens to solve today's problems.
