Does anyone have a suggested resource to show someone how mocking someone’s accent is hurtful - I was in a situation last weekend where someone was mocking someone and the way they may speak for humor - I tried to explain how that type of thing is hurtful but also when you know something is hurtful you shouldn't do it. They were not receptive of that and in fact then pushed back that it's not hurtful. This person is smart, they care about others and I'd like to send something to them so they can try to understand.

An attendee asked about my comment about compromise. I don’t think we should compromise with genocidal white nationalists nor with far right, fascist policy makers. Halfway between here and genocide is not acceptable as a prize, obviously. But pluralism requires compromise as does coalition building. That desire is easily lost for very legitimate reasons, and when that happens, conditions worsen. If we can’t compromise in politics, the alternative is force, and that is the authoritarians creed.

+++ Justin, White Supremacy is totally immersed in colonization both on Turtle island and globally. Absolutely dismantling white supremacy has to be based in decolonizing and reclaiming indigeneity
Susan Green
01:56:25
Thank you Misha. I did what you advised. I have been part of Together Colorado. We are a multi-racial faith-based organization. We are almost finished with a two-year campaign to change the way law enforcement can identify and arrest people, especially BIPOC and poor people. It will be fully passed and signed by the governor next week. Police will no longer be permitted to be sloppy and act out racist practices through the use of showup identifications. We are white and black and Asian and Latinx and we worked as a team to prevent the trauma of incarceration of innocent people. The criminal legal system is messed up and prisons need to be dramatically changed but this new law will slow the prison pipeline.
Marion Lipshutz
01:56:26
@LindaBookey: I’m especially grateful for Scot Nakagawa’s understandings of white nationalism and antisemitism and in my experience white Christians have a lot of fragility around white Christian hegemony

As a committed anti-Zionist Jew, I don't think it serves collective liberation narratives to pretend that diasporist politics where (almost) everyone else has a homeland and we (Ashkenazi, Mizrahi, Sephardi) depend on the hospitality of others is not a risky strategy. It may be the only long-term survival strategy that may work out for ourselves and others as well as being ethically sound but that doesn't mean it has a good chance of working out.
