It could be interesting if everyone could Rename themselves to include where the live. If you’re able to do so, that would be great!

Ok I see that people are including their community in the chat. I thought the suggestion was to add our community to the name in our box. But if this is where you want it, Nienke and Ed are in Princeton.

I have no doubt that you personally believe in supporting and strengthening our healthcare services Petra. You seem sincere. But your party has ZERO credibility on this file. Sorry.

Ouch! Suspend the Carbon Tax? We all experienced the consequences of the climate fires down south this year in our communities. Can we not all agree we need to transition to greener energy initiatives as soon as we can?!
Chris
01:10:30
I have asked this numerous times without getting an answer. Petra, if you cut the PST what programs/services will also get cut or do you propose keeping the programs status quo and running an 8 billion deficit.
Darryl Seres
01:10:48
Greener energy yes, the facts show the carbon tax does result in reduced emissions, BC's have increased
Ed Staples & Nienke Klaver
01:13:21
The Centre for Rural Health Research at UBC recently released a report on the out of pocket costs for rural residents requiring care away from home. The report reveals the incredible hardship experienced by BC residents living in rural and remote areas of this province. What will you and your party do to remove the financial barriers to care experienced by so many rural residents?
Ian Mitchell - Grand Forks
01:15:35
Great point Darryl regarding paying our health care workers what they deserve!
Chris
01:19:34
Who are these people that are paying 40% more for their car insurance. I have the maximum rebate due to responsible driving and my rates have not even increased 10% over the last 3 years.
Ian Mitchell - Grand Forks
01:19:39
To that end, let's not forget that this is what the BC Liberals did to these underappreciated workers: https://thetyee.ca/News/2018/11/19/Health-Workers-Celebrate-Repeal/
cheriee weichel
01:20:01
I’m frustrated by Petra’s response re ICBC. Your party decimated it, and now you think privatization is the solution? Seriously? Was that the plan all along?
Jenny
01:20:52
young drivers pay through the nose for insurance right now
Ed Staples & Nienke Klaver
01:21:56
Sorry, Darryl, I don’t think you understand the question!

01:22:42
Or maybe I didn’t it.

Sorry if I missed the boat on that

The LNG export “opportunities” that Darryl seems to highlight are not the global experience. Just ask Australia what is happening to their LNG futures.

Wind… solar… hydro…
Roly Russell
01:24:09
Cheriee Weichel: And last time the Liberals explored the option when they were the government, they backed away because they decided that it was going to result in "double digit" increases to rates!
Darryl Seres

Those too :)

That wasn't a clean yes or no..
Ian Mitchell - Grand Forks
01:24:49
Look at what happened in Ontario and Quebec. It's easy to imagine something similar in BC had the BC Liberals still been in power. Thank goodness the BC NDP repealed Bill 29 and acted swiftly to ensure Health care workers could stick to one workplace almost immediately when COVID hit.

From what I understand, wind doesn’t work in our region. We are in the pathway of bird migration… however, we certainly have other options, like solar for sure!
Bob Makortoff, Grand Forks
01:29:07
Good question Sam, perhaps the candidates can publish their positions on the remaining questions in regional news papers
Adrian Corcoran
01:29:47
Good job Darryl!
Barbra Paterson
01:29:56
That is a great idea Bob! I’d like to hear their answers to other questions.
Dr. Alan Ruddiman
01:29:59
“Yes, no” questions and answers are often very binary and polarized. There are some questions that do require a more detailed consideration and an approach drawing in a much more diverse and thoughtful perspective.
Ed Staples & Nienke Klaver
01:30:35
Thank you Petra, Roly and Darryl for this opportunity to get to know you and where you stand on important issues. I realize that this format makes it impossible to have everyone’s questions answered. So our local healthcare advocacy organization (SOHC) will be sending each of you several questions pertaining to improving access to healthcare in our communities. I look forward to hearing your answers.
Deb

Do we know why the Wexit candidate didn't show up?
Ian Mitchell - Grand Forks
01:31:10
Great point about democratic process Darryl. Roly was elected by the members of the Boundary Similkameen BC NDP. They could have appointed a candidate like the BC Libs did, but worked their tails off to hold a hurry up nomination meeting. And the turnout was outstanding! The vast majority of eligible members cast a ballot.

01:33:09
But how do we replace the lost funds, it will be through other taxes.
cheriee weichel
01:33:12
Petra, what social programs will you eliminate to pay for all these tax cuts?
BC BC
01:33:12
eliminating the PST does nothing for rural BC. helps the wealthy save $70,000 on a yacht. no money left to do anything for us!
