Hello, I have 3 questions please. My 28 months old, doesn’t follow certain instructions, eg. bring me this toy, while he does follow others, put toys in the basket, cover doll with a blanket. He doesn’t use a lot of 2 or more words together or simple sentences. He says few, eg. drinking water, bye duck, how are you, what’s this. He wouldn’t say red ball for example although the says these words individually. He doesn’t answer to yes questions. He’s say the word yes but doesn’t use it if I ask him something. He says no quite a lot if he doesn’t want anything. Should I be worried?

Hi, My Little one is 2 on Sunday and isn’t really saying anything should I be concerned? She says mama and dada and occasionally bye bye but that’s all. She understands a lot and can follow instructions. She is great with animal noises and when we read books she can point out most things so we know she understands the words but won’t try and say it herself. She babbles a lot but not actual words.
Peace O.

My 2.5yr old has recently started speaking with a lisp. She can pronounce “St” but seems to keep lisping. Should I keep making a point of correcting her pronunciation or will this encourage her to play up for attention?

My daughter is 27 months but has less than 10 single words. She is using gestures and vocalising. She can follow some routine instructions. She is copying actions from nursery rhymes. How do I know if she has a speech and language delay or something more?

Hello. My son is 30months and doesn’t speak at all. He is able to count and can order his numbers and the alphabet too. He is unable to follow instructions such as ‘go and get your shoes’. If he wants a snack etc, he will push you towards the object etc. He has not said mummy or daddy. Please could you offer some advice? Thank you so much.

What if only one partner speaks a different language so English is spoken mostly at home. How do we promote the second language?

Hi! My 20 month old is very behind on her speaking. She is bilingual (parents speak different languages ((eng - port)) and she goes to child minding. She understands a lot, consistently knows all the animals, uses a lot of signing correctly and knows lots of song lyrics by heart (knows when clapping or stomping is coming). She's VERY active and interactive, but he speech is just now following up. She only says "mama", "dada" and other little bits like "duck" and "tea". What should we do?

Hello, my son is 21 months old. He understands instructions etc, and has been trying to say words, but only says the first part of the word, such as ca for cake or cat or ha for heart. When he does this, I say well done and repeat the word in full. Should I be doing more or change how I respond?

Hi, my son is 33 months old, he says about 5-10 words, but only uses them singly, never 2 words together. We use some Makaton which he’s picked up well and he gestures, points, etc. He’s on a waiting list for speech and language therapy but that’s not due to start until September. He’s also in he process of being assessed for personal / social skills to check for things like autism, etc. I just wondered if there was anything else I could do at home with him in the meantime to support him and encourage speech?

My 28 months knows the alphabet, counts to 20, knows colours and shapes. He’s speech delayed in other areas. Could this be a sign of autism, as I read online autistic children can be advanced with letters numbers but not other areas or their speech development

Hey, I wanted to understand whether poor concentration skills (i.e. not focusing on a book or activity for more than a minute) and having a parent formally diagnosed with ADHD makes it more likely that the child have it and does it impact on speech learning.
