36:53
Can we please have stalls in Kent too?

39:15
What can we do to stop the government from using covid etc as justification for problems experienced by the UK only (not our neighbouring countries) which must surely be down to Brexit? How do we hold them to account?

39:30
ps I'm one of those Europeans

41:51
Q Will a United Ireland and an Independent Scotland precede any application for little England to join the EU?

42:51
Q. How will EM reset beliefs about the EU in the U.K.?Once we humans have established our views, and perhaps even articulated them (e.g. through a vote), it is cognitively difficult to change our beliefs.

42:59
Q The Unite Union has apparently voted to oppose FPTP. How big an impetuous will this give Labour and an opposition progressive alliance to remove the Tories - and thus (hopefully) a first step to rejoin the EU ?

44:14
Good QQ coming in. Will try to get them answered by AA.

44:44
Q: does the fact that the EU have agreed to minimise paperwork mean we're working towards re-entering the customs union?

46:19
Q; Why isn't the Labour front bench pointing out that Brexit is ruining the UK? They should lead rather than hoping not to upset Brexit people.

46:20
Q. Could you please explain the difference between the customs union and the single market. (AA said to re-enter the CU first, then the SM).

46:35
Will Europe have us back?

46:43
Q. Andrew.Surely the first step is to rejoin the Single Market and Customs Union A La Norway. No way will Boris J admit openly that Brexit isn't working, but does that really matter for now?

47:05
Q: how do we rebrand ourselves? We need a new logo…

47:09
Q: so many people around me believe the government rhetoric re reasons for issues at hand. How do you change those people's minds without making them feel we're remoaners?

50:05
I hope we can also save the NHS in the process!

51:12
Hear hear!! they no doubt have private healthcare contracts drafted, ready for signing once the NHS falls over (and I work there)

51:16
Q What plans are there to pressure a change for musicians touring Europe.

51:58
14.000 members is the same as the Airedale terrier society.

52:13
Q: AA says that polls say that the majority of the British Public feel that Brexit was a mistake. Which polls? Commissioned by whom?

52:47
Q Do we need to join pro EU and pro NHS etc folk together as part of the movement ?

52:53
I agree that 14,000 is far too few members for the European Movement. So let's all join up our ten best friends and closest relations!

53:50
Starmer is also a jerk! We need either Lewis, Trickett, Butler or McDonnell to replace him!

53:55
How can we cut through the “over it’ attitude? face masks anyone?

54:20
Even Mail on Sunday published their poll in which majority of MAIL readers thought Brexit was a mistake. But that doesn't mean they want to rejoin so we must take it step by step.

55:05
Can EM think realistically it can replace a set of opposition parties who are NOT talking about Brexit not working?

55:12
Q: how do you stop the EU being blamed for it not working, insinuating that they're just being difficult?

55:27
We need to convert brexiters and waverers .. pick 5 people each and convert them!

55:47
if only if it was that easy

55:53
I've tried

56:11
Q. (How) Will the existence of trade treaties enacted between the U.K. and non-EU members since brexit complicate re-entry into the CU and/or SM?

56:12
I sincerely wonder how we engage and convince those people.....

56:25
bbc is led by Conservative chairman now....

56:47
Hi Andrew. Martin here - your undistinguished former tutee! During the talk. I have joined the European Movement - so that's 14,001 at least! As a Head teacher, at least here in Cambridge, the overwhelming majority of young people (teenagers) regard Brexit (rightly) as a terrible mistake. There is young energy ready to get behind the movement if we can mobilise them. At the moment I think that many feel fatalistic on the most important issues to them (Brexit, the environment).

58:52
I agree. How can we motivate the young to join us and become active?

59:42
Q How do we get a bigger voice within the MsM ? How do we tackle the BBC - who are deliberately omitting the B word ?

59:46
Q. Will the EM campaign exclusively on economic arguments, or are there cultural and/or geopolitical arguments that will resonate with the U.K. population? What about conceptions of sovereignty & independence and sovereignty & cooperation?

59:50
I do know from Twitter that there are many angry people out there with the current government (covid, brexit, etc) who really don't know what they can do to change it.

59:53
Q - I am no expert in slogans but I don't feel that "Brexit isn't working" is very catchy. In particular, it will not appeal to those who thrive on soundbites. Who is advising the European Movement on PR?

01:03:38
Yes please to the Progressive Alliance!

01:03:54
Q: Can AA please describe his ‘sunny uplands’. Once we re-engaged with Europe, how would we want to shape it?

01:04:27
John Glenn is yet to support me on ANYTHING I've asked him to represent me on. He doesn't care as he knows his seat is solid...

01:05:22
How is EM reaching out to important business and community leaders ref. Brexit isn’t working?

01:05:25
Q: and how can we campaign with the government making legal changes to our ability to protest etc?

01:05:42
I feel like I'm stuck in a George Orwell novel....

01:07:13
Labour is almost certainly pro EU ! But this doesn't need to be shouted from the rooftops. All of here will vote to rejoin. I anticipate both Lab and Cons are chasing 40 seats in the red wall. I imagine timing is crucial !

01:08:37
Advertise the European movement! Even I haven’t heard of it.

01:09:27
Labour's Left see the EU as a Rich Man's Club and in an economic sense they are probably right. But the Bankers, etc. in the EU can be made to pursue different actions!

01:11:44
Ian Wright (Food & Drink Alliance) is highly vocal - and in private unprintable!

01:13:17
Taking people with you doesn't mean that they initially share your point of view. It means that they trust you.

01:13:43
I agree with @mark cartwright that we need to join pro EU and pro NHS etc folk together as part of the movement.

01:14:31
and an economy that works for the environment!!

01:15:29
Q I am hearing that Govt are laying down plans to dismantle the constitutional legal framework of the UK e.g. issues that the Supreme Court can deal with. How long have we got ?

01:16:37
Yes and I've seen an article statement that Dominic Raab wants to make legal changes so they can intervene with legal judgments if they disagree!!

01:18:05
Can we have some new EM T-Shirts for the new catchphrase “Brexit isn’t working”!

01:18:42
Yes we need those T shirts!! How about some with the Wiltshire logo on too?

01:19:21
Regarding messaging. Do we have a Speakers Panel that we can call on if we as individuals can drum up enough support for local, village hall meetings?

01:19:29
Taking peopled with you - the reforming Labour govt. of the sixties understood very well that their reforms of legalising homosexuality, legalising abortion, tackling racism, etc. wold never pass a referendum, but they could be introduced and people's views would change over time. Similarly Brexiteer views.

01:19:45
I’ve joined the EM and volunteered! Yes Yes Yes to Kate’s push to arm us with good data so that we can win arguments with sound facts rather than subjective views.

01:20:57
Can you all help us on 20th November action day?

01:21:00
We need an agreed colour scheme..

01:21:17
Q. What does Andrew think of us continuing to use EU/Council of Europe flags et the like?

01:21:40
Q: before printing slogans on tshirts, wouldn't it first be better to work out what slogan is the most engaging slogan to those people most likely to come on board?

01:22:39
Fee questions coming up. Raise your hands if you have a Q not already asked and answered!

01:22:40
There were some very prescient cartoons from the German and Thai press about Brexit in The European - pity they aren’t made far more public (bit like Led by Donkeys billboards)

01:24:44
Marples must go was a wonderful car sticker. Where is our ‘ Brexit isn’t working’ sticker

01:25:12
Q. What does Andrew think of us continuing to use EU/Council of Europe flags et the like?

01:25:21
This is a long question...

01:26:09
Any campaign group needs to be 'credible' in the eyes of ordinary people.

01:26:41
Just joined the European Movement ….

01:26:46
I am sure lots of EM members have stories about trading problems affecting them personally since Brexit was done.

01:28:46
3 near neighbours have ceased trading with the EU - 1 has moved abroad to work in the EU. How are these people being counted ?

01:29:30
Question: can we please run adverts for our movement, similar to aussie activist group GetUp! ?

01:30:31
https://www.europeanmovement.co.uk/monthly_membership

01:30:59
Sadly, the Labour Remain activist training was rubbish

01:31:28
Can we get Led By Donkeys the Good Law Project et al to join forces ?

01:33:45
Give them hope!

01:33:46
Us older ones can still find time to motivate younger family members..

01:34:03
You have to believe that it is possible.

01:34:09
I couldn't cope with the personal abuse hurled at us.

01:35:28
Who hasn't hear of Tic Tok!!!

01:36:06
@Ted: Heard of, but not used.

01:36:09
Signed-up to EM. - Thank you!

01:36:34
As an EU citizen I've been told to f off back to my own country more than once (by complete strangers) - incl whilst being threatened with a knife. So I'm a lot more careful trying to get others around me onboard

01:38:11
Tick tock is very 'Youth'

01:38:31
U froze

01:38:46
I've also been told by my brother that my politics make him sick i no longer talk to him can't cope with the abuse.

01:39:12
I've lost friends myself....

01:39:32
Hence my question re messaging and engagement

01:40:00
There are some people who will never be converted. Concentrate on the waverers ?

01:40:02
And I think tying the issue to the survival of the NHS would really help.

01:41:18
Agree with Natasja ! The NHS is a powerful motivator

01:41:19
Personally i would prefer we followed the French or German model more people would survive cancer for a start.

01:43:16
Well I can tell you if we privatise the NHS, individual contributions would double at best. My elderly parents on a basic pension in the Netherlands have to choose a new policy each year and decide whether they inxmclude Physiotherapy, Orthotics etc etc.

01:43:42
Because then there will need to be a profit margin too.

01:43:52
I think that much will depend on what happens in the EU over the next few years. If they can open up, listen to people, perhaps reform some of their modus operandi and be - not only appear - to be more willing to accommodate different forms of membership, it might be easier to convince the wider public that rejoining is in this country's interest.

01:44:07
Q: shouldn’t the EM put a conference on Improving Britain (devolution, regional development etc.)

01:44:48
And the way the care profession is a profession in other European countries, for which you obtain a professional qualification. Not a job basically anyone could do.

01:46:39
hear hear

01:47:51
Thank you for inspiration and hope. L Adonis.

01:47:58
Thank you Andrew. I have really enjoyed this!

01:48:03
Excellent talk. Thank you.

01:48:18
Well done everyone!

01:48:22
Thxs Andrew..very inspiring

01:48:31
Thanks you

01:48:49
Thanks Andrew - v inspiring

01:48:52
Thanks, making me slightly more hopeful

01:48:55
Excellent talk and questions. Thank you all

01:49:01
Excellent talk. Thank you all!

01:49:26
Thank you from the Isle of Wight

01:49:26
Thank you all!

01:49:44
Leave came together, but was very different groups - the far left hate Brussels, some hate immigration, others had other reasons for voting Leave. When I speak to them they don’t agree with others. But they all voted Leave.

01:49:57
Thank you!

01:50:15
Thanks for organising

01:50:24
Thanks to the team at Devizes for Europe!
