VAAC Webinar -Thursday - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
Our local districts will work with parents/families who are going to school-of-choice. Check with your district for details.
Hi Amber - the students attending VAAC will receive back their devices from their district.
Our curriculum platform is internet based, so any device (ipads, chromebooks, laptops, etc.) that connects to the internet will work. High speed internet is preferred for the live lessons.
For WUS families - you should have received an email yesterday confirming either the days that your student is scheduled to attend in the hybrid model OR their status with VAAC. If you did not, please reach out to your child’s school building and they are able to confirm.
WUS 7th and 10th grade students can turn in their current iPads for the newer models.
Hi Nick - if you've filled out the VAAC survey, then Wayland will ensure the student data is sent to VAAC. Thx
For Fennville students, VAAC students will start on August 31. For those attending in person or have selected the temporary remote option, the first day is September 8.
Students are allowed to move back/forth between VAAC and their brick-and-mortar building at the trimester or semester (whichever your district uses)
Accelerated courses are available through VAAC. VAAC will be working to align VAAC courses with a student’s current schedule
Hi Ken- we hope to be able to release the full VAAC yearly calendar in the near future.
Hi Stan - we have about a third of our projected teachers coming aboard right now, and many more over the next week.
Hi Jackie - yes, each partner district is responsible for the devices for their students who attend VAAC
Hi MDJ - the individual teachers will be arranging the links for the live lessons
Hi MDJ - once all the teachers are on board, they will be working together to determine a best common tool for communication.
There are some electives that we are unable to offer, such as band, choir, drama, woodshop, etc.
Hi Mar - the individual districts will help each student to develop her/his course schedule.
Hi Crystal - the nature of a true virtual school is to have our lessons online, so while students may have some activities away from the screen, we are not planning to send home packets.
Hi Jessica - great question. Students are encouraged to reach out to her/his teacher and/or mentor for help. Depending on when the teacher or mentor is online, it could be "live" help right at that moment, or the teacher may reach back to the student at a later time that works for both of them.
Hi Sharon - if you enrolled today with a partner district and indicated you wanted VAAC, then you are all set.
Hi everyone, here's the link to the VAAC enrollment survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1f_v5DOiBzUJfjtF4F8Y0azL_qJgGQg2cAIKIKELyczI/edit
After tonight's webinar, please see our VAAC website for the enrollment survey: virtualacademyac.org
Hi Ken - all state testing is the responsibility of the home district
