fun Zoom tip - you can hide your "self view" so you don't have to stare at your own face all day.
Amanda Ruckman

it doesn't help with Zoom fatigue, but it is nice to not stare at your own face. We're SO not used to seeing our own face all day!

im a huge fan of sticky notes, so i've found workflowy.com is a great resource for to do lists online (especially with the back and forth between work and home). you can tag items with # or @ and keep yourself organized better than on paper

Its very nice to hear that you missed the commute. We keep being told that we should be grateful that we don't have a commute but for some of us having that time before/after work to process the day is necessary.
Veronica Castro

I think young people, but especially those in 30's are really concerned about career growth because it was so hard to get our careers off the ground due to the 2008 recession

As a student, thank you for all your insights, its a daunting prospect of professionally developing admit this current environment.

I really appreciate the comment on authenticity, as a follow up - do you have any advice for remaining authentic when your supervisor may have an approach that differs from you?
JKerr
01:18:55
I second Jen Roberts. This is my second career - formerly a secondary teacher. I took time off and can't get back into it. My clients trust me because I'm authentic. Oftentimes, my superiors don't value that. I feel like they see it as a weakness because I'm female. (I'm the first and only female PM at our company.) I feel like I'm on an island with the authenticity sometimes.

and being the only woman in the room is hard too

01:20:43
Does anyone have any book recommendations for young professionals?
JKerr
01:21:25
Yes. Being the only woman has its challenges. That's why I wanted to connect with this group!!
Veronica Castro
01:22:12
What is the best way to empower other women in the construction industry?
Seyran
01:25:12
to Veronica's question, I would say to give credit where it's due. Acknowledgement is much more than just words; it a very simple way to boost morale and bring confidence.
