In terms of the steel being used offshore, the thing you'd need is anodes which is a sacrificial steel (often zinc). This is used in all offshowe work with steel structures. Although more expensive, on the long term steel will be more sustainable. The accelartions onto such a structure in sea would have a large load on it, Bamboo does not meet such requirement,
