What was that balance of not loosing hope and also staying respectful of boundaries of a no? What are some ways in which you made those decisions?
Rishabh Lalani
01:11:13
Sunil, thanks for the question. I think it’s important to track emails and see if they’ve been looked at/opened during mass campaigns. You can use mail checker or other tools. Keep an excel as well :) Phones, emails, WhatsApp, or anything - figure out where donors want to communicate. There isn’t one answer except KNOW WHAT YOUR AUDIENCE WANTS
Rishabh Lalani
01:12:54
Rohit, I always end my mails with one sentence - “I understand if this isn’t possible” - allow someone their dignity to exit :) Cynicism is the opium of the fundraiser. Never let cynicism overtake hope and you’ll be good.
Rishabh Lalani
01:13:28
Reeva, I can share a small story on this. If Sheena allows :)

Rishabh how many reminder do you usually send?
Rishabh Lalani
01:17:30
Pratima, I don’t send reminders if I don’t receive responses after a couple of emails. I share what I am upto and what I am thinking about
pratima
01:18:58
Thanks. do you think its similarly relevant for programmes too? in followup email we don't usually share update of org'n
Shashank (Bridgespan)
01:34:17
@Bhakti, crowdfunding requires some specialized skillsets, as well as is more amenable to certain kinds of issues (for example it may be difficult to raise crowdfunding for an research think tank). So it may not be for everyone.
Shashank (Bridgespan)
01:35:05
this is where securing the core becomes important... leverage your existing relationships first and then explore the avenues for filling the gaps
Shashank (Bridgespan)
01:35:45
and looking internally at the organization's cost is one of the avenues of plugging the gap :)
Shashank (Bridgespan)
01:37:27
I know that unlike corporates, we may not have the bandwidth to reduce our costs by 10%, but this is indeed an exceptional situation and a lot of our NGO clients have focused on a hrd look at their costs, and how innovation and program redesign could help reduce costs for the short run

Is it better to wait for people to learn about your organization and reach a certain scale before fundraising on social media?
Sneha Arora, Atma (FoI)
03:11:13
Can you give us an example of a strong elevator pitch that you've seen a non profit make?
Satyen Melwani
03:11:19
I find that..you may run very good campaigns..but people don't donate fi they don't know you
