Monthly MADI Support Squad Meeting - Shared screen with speaker view
If we get a performance challenge, and no materials are required, do we just leave that material display video field empty?
Yes that is correct
The video only has to show the materials they actually use, correct?
correct - only items that they use
If they use duplicates of an item, is it enough to show 1 of each in the materials video?
so the list of items, says 1 of everything. Is that true? so it says 1 pipe cleaner for the table. But I am understanding that I can put out 12 pipecleaners and they can choose how many based on challenge criteria that they want to use.
My team of 5th graders doesn't know how to answer the question of how did your team work well together. They think that this means that they are nice to each other. Is DI looking for a deeper answer than this?
Thank you - this is a great session. I need to jump to another call, but will finish reviewing the recording.
If the material is smaller than the specifications is that OK
yes - dimensions noted are maximum sizes
are you taping this meeting so I can share it with my comanger?
do the students need to type their own answers on the IC forms.? my El kids take forever to type. :)
What is the 3 min video suppose to include
for materials: if it says 6 items from table A. Does the manager choose those 6 items or do the kids have to choose?
The kids choose
where do we find the link to watch this meeting?
madkids.org Team Manager Info tab will have these links to this Support Squad videos
Does every kid get a complete set of IC materials to work with or do the materials get distributed across the team?
If our team has siblings on it, can they be in the same room when they do the instant challenge?
How materials are distributed is up to you (ex - Karin will deliver materials REQUESTED by KIDS, to them and I will deliver equal sets of materials to my team members) Up to you/the team
Re: Siblings - they must be on different screens during the video taping
Can the 3 min video have captions?
No captions will not be allowed - that would be considered an embellishment
ok, thank you!
on materials: would the kids choose their materials prior to reading the challenge?
they should choose the materials AFTER they have read the challenge.
If we get a performance based challenge is the 3 minute video basically a skit? And can you explain what it means that it needs a beginning, middle and an end?
yes, I'll ask Karin to address this Q
on zoom you can also hide non video participant boxes so your box is not in the video at all.
Amy, can you say how to do that?
On zoom can students change their names that show up to show who they represent in the story?
Ok, so it’s more obvious than I thought. I was complicating it in my head.
Can you please confirm that I’m correct here.. The final video submission does not have to be a recorded video conferencing platform, correct? I just want to make sure that they can record themselves on their phones and then edit it together. Unlike the summer when they HAD to be on a video conferencing platform.
Aushee when you record the videos, the names do not show up, but you cannot do that anyway because that would be embellishment
oh ok, thank you!
in the upper right corner the … button next to unmute, there is an option to hide non video participants.
To clarify, can the manager read the challenge to the kids, or do they have to read it themselves?
you may read the challenge, to younger kids and if they ask questions, you can only re-read the challenge to them
if possible, send a copy to each team member for them to reference
REALLY big towers
I assumed for RS teams, the manager can edit, as specified by the team, and done in realtime, with the team. Is this correct?
If the video says 3 minutes can it be less than that?
what are the prizes for winning ?
Thanks so much to you both! You’ve been great! Definitely feel better!
Can the kids have access to the rules of the road that references the IC if they have process questions?
what are the prizes for winning?
As there are no many ml teams taking part in the technical challenge. Will that category be handled differently?
Thanks everyone! Appreciate it!
Once the options are made known to us, may we tell the kids?
Is it listed somewhere how many teams there are at each level/ category?
Thank you for this!!
thank you. very helpful!
I’m not on a team, but I’m a senior manager- how do I make sure I receive a cord?
Will you have this video posted tonight. Do you know how long that might take?
Yes! Thank you! Good luck everyone! I have to run!
It's listed on the national site
