In addition to sign on letters we individually communicate budget priorities to the Speaker and Ways and Means staff on these issues. At our budget hearing last week we heard many comments on the loss of the federal victims funding and this will be a priority of our delegation.

Kathy Halas is so right. The two biggest barriers for DV victims is housing and childcare -- or childcare and housing. Always the same two barriers.

These are all urgent issues, and everyone's work here is impressive and inspiring! Most of the legislators in attendance have signed on in support of the statewide right to counsel in eviction proceeding bill S6678A/A7570A. I don't believe legislators Harckham, Otis and Pretlow have signed on yet. Please consider signing on! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns with the bill. jmays@hvjc.org

Thank you Senator Harckham for your leadership on ADUs!
Marie Considine, NAMI Westchester
01:49:46
Thank you to all who spoke, and those who didn’t. All points make for an important discussion. We at NAMI Westchester have had many meetings this week with many of our state legislators who are on this call (as recently as Sen. Harckham earlier today), and we look forward to meeting with more and with county legislators as well. Mental health relates to all the county’s residents and much of this year’s legislation pertains to supporting mental health, and we’ve found great support from all of you and look forward to working together. Thank you. Enjoy the weekend and Super Bowl.
Shelley Mayer
01:50:11

I need to jump off the call, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone on this call for this incredibly important work and advocacy. As a former undocumented immigrant myself, I thank you. We struggled unnecessarily & lived in fear for too long before we were given the dignity of a path to citizenship, and then another decade before we had access to healthcare. Please keep it up - I will help as much as I can.
Jan Fisher, (she, her, hers) NPW
