One key to ranked choice voting is that the "winner" can only win when they reach an absolute majority, so that in the example Kenia gave at the beginning, the 40% plurality would not have winner take all.

Approval Voting is much less proportional than Proportional Ranked Choice Voting. We need to push for PRCV instead of Approval Voting.

For an explanation of Proportional Ranked Choice Voting, got to FairVote.org. It gives good explanations if you keep looking.

The Vashon-Maury Island Community Council (not a government body) has used Proportional Ranked Choice Voting to elect its Board several times.

Our top 2 primary is also not very representative.
