Can Brave Writer help my 11 year old from writing a lot of "talking script" in her stories and expand the story more? Her content is good, but there is a lot of speak and not description.

My 7 year old boy gets writers block and it makes him shy away from wanting to write.

When a writer breaks the "rules” or uses punctuation in surprising ways, we definitely notice. But when they support the writing, they disappear in our experience of reading.

So often my children have fantastic ideas and then feel it's not quality writing if grammar not being done as they go

Our literature guides examine all kinds of writing craft—a great way for your child to be exposed to those skills that may not yet be evident in their original writing. They'll learn to notice it in their reading first. And that's what drives them to try it in their own writing.

I have written down so much of what my kids have said, but I didn't realize how important reading it aloud to them over and over is.

Yes: reading it in their presence is super powerful.

It helps them discover that what they wrote matters to readers.

Don't worry about how much time it takes, btw. We'll talk about that. Remember: I have 5 kids 9 years apart. It is entirely possible. Less is more. You don't need to do writing projects every week with every child! There are ways to do one writing project well per child, perhaps 1-2 projects per year per child! We will help you. 🙂
