A lot can be done to help lawns be healthy - by using native grasses (Pearls) that have deep roots are slower growing.

we hear a lot about this soil carbon storage these days. Is it true that MOF could be at the forefront of this in Massachusetts? as far as I know the idea of carbon storage is a puzzle to our commonwealth's greenhouse gas inventory (per the Nature Conservancy and others)

Hi. This is really cool and aspirational but I don't see a campaign here. What's the strategy, what's the target? What's the specific change(s) that needs state wide action? I see a lot of worthy local and individual actions, but not clear and collective action objectives.

Need to watch national carbon funding for farmers that it is not co-opted by big ag. Need to follow how it is rolled out.

strategy and targets - first educate everyone that we're part of the carbon/soil system. and then increase town participation in composting, and expanding gardens and forests around the state. We need 10% carbon drawdown from nature to meet Net Zero by 2050
Fran Cummings
01:45:21
What sources would you recommend that estimate or forecast the total amount of additional carbon that could be sequestered in the ‘sponge’ of our soil in MA, and how big an impact it would have on meeting statewide goals?
Steph L Ochoa

Not Debbie downer, I do agree with you Claire

there are measures of soil carbon content that are being developed. increasing from a kind of typical 1% carbon content to 12% carbon by restoring the ecosystem under the ground is measurable.
