Such a powerful reflection

57:55
Anyone want to share what CRM they are using?

58:46
We are using Blackbaud products, just upgraded to Raisers Edge NXT and the Blackbaud Net Community

58:46
@Lisa I put all of our alumni in Raier's Edge since it was what the foundation had, but I'm now hoping to move into Almabase since it's a better fit for our alumni needs.

59:13
Raisers Edge NXT

Raisers Edge NXT

01:00:20
@Lisa we use Network for Good. This is the CRM that our Foundation uses.

01:00:58
So you find your alumni prefer a program with an educational or career takeaway versus social events? that is our trend, I am wondering if there are however social events you have had success in hosting.

01:02:18
I would love to hear more about educational/career focus v. social events --what are other people seeing this year?

01:03:12
Will Denise share her's?! LOL!

01:03:50
Would also like to hear more about the programming. All of our events got completely sidelined by COVID and lately also by college politics, so it's hard.

01:03:54
You can't steal what people share willingly. CASE: Collect And Share Excellence!

01:04:10
I am very interested in educational / career focus vs. social events as well. We are really wanting to make sure we assist our newest alumni.

01:04:48
Marc, wish I could "like" that message! (y)

01:04:59
We want to know if they are scholarship recipients!

01:05:58
I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

01:06:00
<3

01:06:03
I'm curious what tasks/roles do your volunteer alumni board members play?

01:06:26
We don’t do events either!

01:06:27
It’s been helpful to get buy-in/support from other departments by focusing on educational/career development events. Our first engagement event is a job search strategies workshop.

01:06:30
we have started doing educational events online and they have been a HUGE win.

01:06:44
Execellent. Fewer events = greater donor focus

01:07:10
what type of career/educational events have colleges done with an alumni virtually that get alumni engagement?

01:07:38
Such great comments. I'm with @Madeline Sertner. We need a "like" button here!

01:07:51
If you aren't doing events, how are you engaging alumni? We have a newsletter and some career service benefits, but we are struggling with engagement

01:08:11
We partner quite a bit with our Career Services Office, Transfer Office and Workforce Development Programs to provide practical sessions. We also have a monthly financial education series with topics such as home buying, invest, ing, mortgages, etc.

01:08:23
Yes Dr. Crowe would you be willing to define the engagement opportunities at the operational level?

01:08:29
I second Mary's question also!! What are your most successful ways to get alumni engagement apart from events?

01:08:32
I agree starting where you are - for our college/district this included building out a website with "alumni voices" where they can enter their story, update their contact information and join an alumni association.

01:08:34
We offer CEU and professional licensure certification prep - especially for allied health programs and these have yielded new donors and a lot of alumni engagement. Our best two programs are nursing and PTA/OTA.

01:08:41
Our first event is this afternoon and we focused on the upcoming grads for a workshop series. Today: job search strategies; next week: job interview strategies; 3rd session: how to use LinkedIn to build your career network. We’ll see how it goes! It was a great way to involve community and college partners.

01:08:53
@Mackenzie, our office partnered with the College's Career Services Department on their virtual workshops; we offered opportunities for our alumni to co-present on topics like interviewing, resume building etc. also invited alumni to participate

01:09:32
@MacKenzie Murphy We moved our virtual programming to first-generation career placement, conversation with our college president that focuses on alumni storytelling and transfer panels for our AA graduates.

01:09:59
Thank you!

01:10:31
We did a survey as well and got the same results. We offered these through career services and workshops and they were a bust...

01:10:47
About three attendees per workshop

01:12:55
Thank you!

01:14:18
When you said you weren’t doing events, I was so happy and was wondering how you replace that “high touch” - yes those 13!!!

01:14:30
Yes thinking “what are the actual 13"

01:16:24
Do you have success getting professors to tell you when alumni are coming to speak? We know alumni are coming but struggle to get faculty to let us know when and where so we can bring them a gift or welcome them back.

01:16:25
What are ways you engage alumni that are long distance

01:17:19
We are focused on virtual career development events and use Alumni Learning Consortium to help us offer white label content. We are a small team of 2 and ALC helps us offer more content to our alumni than we could alone.

01:18:40
Can you speak to any corporate/industry partnerships you utilize in alumni engagement (ie. large employers of alumni, recruiting opportunities)?

01:18:41
excellent information!

01:23:15
are alumni ONLY graduates of your college? We have also included if they completed 24 or more credit hours and are debating if this is valuable.

01:23:16
Convince your team, alumni are your greatest ambassadors... bond issues, future generations of students, employee training referrals, community's college for lifetime learning. Hard to put a measurable on those things until you go without - that would be a significant loss. Great question.

01:23:42
CASE defines alumni as: Graduates of the institution and others with a prior academic relationship, including non-graduates, certificate and credential holders, distance learners, lifelong learners, residents, post-docs, honorary degree recipients and honorary alumni.

01:24:04
We have started the Alum from Day 1 concept - working to develop it

01:24:07
(from the CASE Alumni Engagement Metric white paper)

01:24:10
We speak to students in their College 104 class so they recognize who we are

01:24:19
Thanks, Marc. We use the CASE definition of alumni.

01:24:58
does anyone include Dual Enrollment students in alumni?

01:25:12
We include DE in alumni

01:26:08
We run a graduate class giving campaign each year. Should we be thinking about calling it the Alumni Class Giving Campaign? To emphasize, 'alumni' over 'graduate'?

01:27:15
Thank you all for joining us today! Please share your feedback on today's conversation in our brief survey: https://case1.cnf.io/sessions/t4yr/#!/dashboard
