41:19
hello from Connecticut

42:55
I’m particularly interested in how we thread climate action through our entire health curricula. We also need to adapt our professional codes of (ethical) conduct to include climate change/action.

43:13
Interesante la presentación

43:21
and it needs to be in continuing ed as well.

43:47
How can we infuse more climate health and other related ecological information into our nursing curriculum at a more faster rate?

44:24
I agree, but too late for me to work on a piece for COP26.

44:28
Everywhere! Nursery, primary & secondary school too. My 11 year old is so switched on. He’s a young advocate. Amazing 😻

45:03
Hello from NJ! So glad to see so many today!

45:14
@pamela new technologies are emerging for more rapid analysis of environmental conditions - interdisciplinary partnerships with other scientists are essential!

45:21
@Pamela. Part of it is opportunism...finding moments when you can introduce this into pre-existing courses or projects....so not waiting for curriular changes.

45:45
While the curriculum is being finalized ,we can start holding focus groups within our own organizations and start talking to our students and bedside nurses as well as to our school nurses.

46:11
@Pamela Guthman - aligning with the new AACN Essentials provides an opportunity - especially with the Population Health Domain - subcategory 3.6b which states that nurses must “understand the impact of climate change on environmental and population health.”

46:49
Good afternoon from the UK.

46:53
Teach children, how to plant and care for the pollinator plants and how it supports about 40-50 species of insects. We have opportunity to spread the word at every possible level with any group who will listen to nurses.

47:36
I look forward to seeing colleagues from ANHE at next week's COP 26 in Glasgow,

47:42
@ Joanne: we upgraded our #11 principle r/t the precautionary principle to state “Apply the precautionary principle in decision making related to introducing new technologies and employing old and untested technologies

47:52
Best wishes, Trvor

48:36
#11 Aplicar el principio de precaución en la toma de decisiones relacionadas con la introducción de nuevas tecnologías y el empleo de tecnologías antiguas y no probadas

49:00
Yes; I'm implementing and inserting when/where I can, including the precautionary principle but worried it isn't fast enough! Agree with all suggestions.

49:34
The AACN Essentials for Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Education has under Domain 3- Population Health a sub level 3.6 for nursing students to understands climate change! Climate Change is coming into the the American Nursing Curriculum.

51:56
Happy to see the CNA work recognised here! Nurses in Canada have also been advocating for climate and environmental justice for years.

52:27
thanks @Juliehuisken its great to hear. Lobbying for UK education standards is a key priority for us - can we link up to learn more from you?

52:58
Yes- glad to connect

53:58
this case study and the survey is so good.I really feel like combatting misinformation is also something nurses must take on. Politically motivated health misinformation has obvious effects on individual and population health.

54:32
We, at Penn State will be offering a 3 cr course called Climate Change and Storytelling. We are also infusing the 17 SDGs into our undergraduate curriculum with each core nursing course

56:14
@darlene Yes! we need more work on integrating ALL the SDG’s into out work/pedagogy for #Nurses4ClimateJustice!

56:26
@Darlene, that sounds wonderful! Would love to hear more about that!

57:08
@DArlene,,Looking forward to 3 Cr course. Will it be open for anyone or as a part of BSN course?

57:14
BTW we have a great exemplar of a Mental Health Nurse caring for a little marsh in an industrial area on our ANHE Podcasts (just dropped) https://envirn.org/podcast/4-13-climate-justice-8-bradley-thompson-msn-rn-bc-pmhcns-bc-nursing-is-nothing-without-action/

57:15
Really wonderful @Darlene. We need a call!

58:28
that was great encouragement and wisdom Ms Nawagi

58:44
Hello Joanne Bosanquet! Also a member of Sigma. I’ll reach out! Regarding climate change: I would like to create curriculum to approach smaller charter schools in my area with to present to classes. Generally these schools do not have a school nurse. Any ideas are appreciated!

58:47
This is great Ms. Nawagi

58:52
Please join the ANHE Education forum to continue the discussion regarding climate change in nursing curricula.

Share a photo and why climate justice matters to you in nursing! In collaboration with nurses and nursing organizations globally, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments is organizing an exhibit at COP26, the annual United Nations climate change conference. Climate justice has become a driving force for innovation in science and is at the forefront of the environmental justice movement. Through this exhibit, we aim to center the voices of disproportionately impacted communities for regenerating planetary and human health and showcase nursing collaboration to advance climate justice action globally. To provide a visual representation on how nurses are working around climate justice, we are asking nurses to submit photos, poems, writing pieces, artwork, etc. that can be uploaded digitally and pulled together in a slideshow for presentation at the exhibit. Upload your submission here. If you are having any issues with this form, please reach out to cara@envirn.org.

We will send this link and other resources out after the webinar in a follow up email.

01:01:14
Wonderful! I’m working on a project development with an indigenous group in the U.S around climate change’s impact on health inequities. I’ll look for a pic to submit :)

01:02:18
Thanks Hannah!

Principle #12:Affirm the sacredness of Nature, ecological unity, and the interdependence of all species/ Afirmar el carácter sagrado de la Naturaleza, la unidad ecológica y la interdependencia de todas las especies

01:06:17
Is there a way to make this network more accessible somehow? I know ANHE has been developing a directory for a while, this work feels ever more important. We ARE a global work force. I can volunteer on this project...

01:06:51
Vigilance: Ideological, Economic, Ecological, Political, y Social!

01:07:07
Great idea. Sheila..we need all likeminded people to continue to network about new ideas and projects.

01:08:03
Thank you for sharing during this forum. I enjoyed the conversation and learning from you all.

01:08:14
@Julie I mentioned at the beginning our go-live date for the principles will be November 12, then we’ll take comments from the world for 30 days!

01:08:39
Thank you all speakers! You are all amazing and true inspirations to us all!

01:09:06
You all have delivered great influential messages!

01:09:22
ANHE's Climate Challenge makes it so easy to fold it into the curriculum.

01:10:00
There are supportive Nurses Climate Challenge networks in US/Canada and Europe of nursing schools incorporating climate health into curricula: https://nursesclimatechallenge.org

01:10:44
#17: Adopt the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in working at the local, national and international levels/ Adoptar los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de las Naciones Unidas en el trabajo a nivel local, nacional e internacional

01:11:09
Great idea Faith. My action items for them after my presentation for them was to plant a tree , gift a plant for birthdays or anniversaries and avoid using plastic items (Including daily use of forks and knives)

01:11:28
We did an excellent curriculum on Vector-borne diseases that has incorporated Indigenous teachings and knowledge

01:12:56
In writing the principles we opted not to spell out actions for nurses for education, research, advocacy, and practice and opted instead for upstream challenges in order to provide freedom for global adaption based on regional contexts:)

01:14:03
@Doriam yes we need to engage the new generation of nurses: they are Ready!!!

01:14:04
RIGHT ON Dorian.

01:14:24
Agree Doriam I had that same conversation recently with a group of nurses!

01:14:25
We teach a course on global health in our RN-BSN program that addresses environmental factors on global health

01:14:26
Doriam.

01:14:29
Thank you to all of our incredible speakers and to you all for joining!

01:14:47

01:14:55
Thank you so much everyone! Wonderful presentations!

01:15:01
True Doriam..It is difficult for patients to understand why suddenly we are focusing on climate. But ICN has a great article on 'Plate as our patient'

01:15:11
Thank you, excellent presentation!

01:15:26
I am looking forward to see this momentum expanding globally with many more nurses joining us.

01:15:28
ICN won't make a commitment to climate change as a nursing issue

01:15:45
YET

01:15:52
Thank you everyone.

01:15:53
Ok Shiela,,

01:15:54
Perhaps we should invite the ICN to a future event?’ A

01:16:04
Looking forward to the Launch on Nov. 12th. Thanks for an inspiring session!
