I’m particularly interested in how we thread climate action through our entire health curricula. We also need to adapt our professional codes of (ethical) conduct to include climate change/action.

@pamela new technologies are emerging for more rapid analysis of environmental conditions - interdisciplinary partnerships with other scientists are essential!

@Pamela. Part of it is opportunism...finding moments when you can introduce this into pre-existing courses or projects....so not waiting for curriular changes.

While the curriculum is being finalized ,we can start holding focus groups within our own organizations and start talking to our students and bedside nurses as well as to our school nurses.

@Pamela Guthman - aligning with the new AACN Essentials provides an opportunity - especially with the Population Health Domain - subcategory 3.6b which states that nurses must “understand the impact of climate change on environmental and population health.”

Teach children, how to plant and care for the pollinator plants and how it supports about 40-50 species of insects. We have opportunity to spread the word at every possible level with any group who will listen to nurses.

Yes; I'm implementing and inserting when/where I can, including the precautionary principle but worried it isn't fast enough! Agree with all suggestions.

The AACN Essentials for Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Education has under Domain 3- Population Health a sub level 3.6 for nursing students to understands climate change! Climate Change is coming into the the American Nursing Curriculum.

Happy to see the CNA work recognised here! Nurses in Canada have also been advocating for climate and environmental justice for years.

this case study and the survey is so good.I really feel like combatting misinformation is also something nurses must take on. Politically motivated health misinformation has obvious effects on individual and population health.

We, at Penn State will be offering a 3 cr course called Climate Change and Storytelling. We are also infusing the 17 SDGs into our undergraduate curriculum with each core nursing course

@darlene Yes! we need more work on integrating ALL the SDG’s into out work/pedagogy for #Nurses4ClimateJustice!

Hello Joanne Bosanquet! Also a member of Sigma. I’ll reach out! Regarding climate change: I would like to create curriculum to approach smaller charter schools in my area with to present to classes. Generally these schools do not have a school nurse. Any ideas are appreciated!

Share a photo and why climate justice matters to you in nursing!In collaboration with nurses and nursing organizations globally, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments is organizing an exhibit at COP26, the annual United Nations climate change conference. Climate justice has become a driving force for innovation in science and is at the forefront of the environmental justice movement. Through this exhibit, we aim to center the voices of disproportionately impacted communities for regenerating planetary and human health and showcase nursing collaboration to advance climate justice action globally.To provide a visual representation on how nurses are working around climate justice, we are asking nurses to submit photos, poems, writing pieces, artwork, etc. that can be uploaded digitally and pulled together in a slideshow for presentation at the exhibit. Great idea Faith.My action items for them after my presentation for them was to plant a tree , gift a plant for birthdays or anniversaries and avoid using plastic items (Including daily use of forks and knives)

We did an excellent curriculum on Vector-borne diseases that has incorporated Indigenous teachings and knowledge

In writing the principles we opted not to spell out actions for nurses for education, research, advocacy, and practice and opted instead for upstream challenges in order to provide freedom for global adaption based on regional contexts:)
