01:00:02
Thank you Dev, Beth and Ryan. Great ideas.

01:01:02
Question, Can Anna give us some example of what a Childrens Food Commission might do please?

01:05:10
Q: what are Anna and Dev, Ryan and Beth's thoughts on school breakfasts and the importance of providing these as well as healthy lunches so that children can learn from the start of the day?

01:06:15
Question; Is there a plan to lobby for universal free meals as well as improved food tech, where healthy cooking is taught more comprehensively?

01:06:42
Question: what relationship so you see between children's rights to food, to rising poverty and ongoing austerity?

01:07:24
Absolutely agree Anna that we need to expect more of supermarkets. They have benefitted from this crisis and we need them to play their part -

01:08:39
This visual is fab!

01:09:05
Agree love this visual, well done!

01:09:07
it really is amazing!

01:11:25
How do we ensure "buy in" from devolved nations with an agreed approach and the required funding to action? We've seen the challenge of "politics" over the current pandemic

01:11:55
Sorry my wifi just cut out

01:13:27
If you liked the illustration, our young food ambassadors also made a video speaking about their Charter asks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLzgk7Y7PBY

01:14:26
Perhaps an online campaign involving more young people - raise the profile and requesting devolved nations to come together to ensure the speedy establishment of a cross-departmental Commission. Children and young people are really good at campaigning - Greta demonstrated this well!

01:15:29
Free meals in nursery settings is very important for FEEE2 children. We see our families either not taking up FEEE2 due to extra costs from settings, making the sessions inaccessible or families sending children in with very unhealthy lunches. one setting sadly contacted us asking for support around education families on healthy lunches as they had some children ebing sent in with only chocolate bars, left over KFC and Mc Donalds. We need to ensure these children get a healthy breakfast and a balanced cooked meal giving them the best start in life.

01:22:16
DWP is key. In the short term auto-enrolment will ensure that families newly eligible for FSM will get support. Currently families are faced with registration delays and missing out on C-19 support.

01:23:47
We heard yesterday that Welsh Goverment are looking into auto-enrolment as a result of the progress on new systems to make cash/BACCS payments for FSM over Covid.

01:26:34
Wales leading the charge again!

01:28:21
Totally agree, tackling poverty, educating our children a key round food and managing finances should be part of a wider approach.

01:29:12
That's great Katie. Would be good to see this autoenrollment across all nations, and also taking in autoenrollment for (an enhanced version of) healthy start vouchers - needs to start before school age!

01:30:23
For those interested in school food - tomorrow at 10am, join a webinar talking us through the logistics of delivering hot food safely when schools return in September. https://bit.ly/yeswecanwebinar

01:30:24
Could Christian provide a copy of his presentation key notes, I really struggled to hear what he was saying.

01:36:22
Apologies all, I have to leave for my next meeting now. It was great to join you all and I look forward to working together on this!

01:36:40
Thanks so much Nadia for joining and your help!

01:38:07
Brilliant that Beth and Faith have met with the First Minister of Wales.

01:40:20
How about a School Food Premium. Follows the child in the same way as pupil/sport/art premium and ring fenced with breakfast, lunch, holiday - even ingredients for cooking classes.

01:41:21
Completely agree with Ryan, if we could take political views out of it and focus on the human dimension that would be great!

01:41:56
Thank you for the great response from the Ambassadors on the questions.

01:42:32
Great final words Ryan!

01:42:50
Hear hear!

01:43:18
Wonderful young ambassadors thank-you.

01:43:18
Brilliant comments from all the Young Ambassadors. Thank you!

01:43:54
Well done on responses to questions from Young Ambassadors

01:44:41
There is an obligation on the state to use all available resources to the maximum extent possible to fulfil children's rights. That isn't happening. The UN Special Rapporteur on poverty described the UK's failure to address poverty as a political choice.

01:44:44
All our Ambassadors form a very articulate group and we must give them every platform we can.

01:45:52
Thanks all for joining and apologies for slight run-over. All resources mentioned on this webinar can be found here: https://foodfoundation.org.uk/new-childrens-right2food-charter-young-people-across-the-uk-call-for-government-action-on-childrens-food-insecurity/

01:45:59
I wonder if jst providing meals to ALL kids for FREE at school would solve a lot of these problems

01:46:43
absolutely agree...

01:47:29
This is the article: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jul/14/englands-free-school-meals-scheme-to-close-for-new-claims-over-summer

01:48:07
well done to all. Full support for Children's Right to Food Commission. Govts can work cross departmental at speed when they want to. Covid has highlighted health and education inequalities which have widened during the crisis. There has never been a more relevant time for right to food. Pauline. Children in Northern Ireland.

01:48:10
there is a big problem with free. Give a starving man a fish and he wants another, give him a fishing rod... we need to reconnect people of all ages with their food supply. We should value food - schools can help grow food while learning.

01:48:14
Thanks so much for a really inspiring session.

01:48:29
thanks for organising - Beth, Ryan and Dev were particularly great

01:48:52
Inspiring! Thanks to the young people.
