Q: what are Anna and Dev, Ryan and Beth's thoughts on school breakfasts and the importance of providing these as well as healthy lunches so that children can learn from the start of the day?

Question; Is there a plan to lobby for universal free meals as well as improved food tech, where healthy cooking is taught more comprehensively?

Question: what relationship so you see between children's rights to food, to rising poverty and ongoing austerity?

Absolutely agree Anna that we need to expect more of supermarkets. They have benefitted from this crisis and we need them to play their part -

How do we ensure "buy in" from devolved nations with an agreed approach and the required funding to action? We've seen the challenge of "politics" over the current pandemic

Perhaps an online campaign involving more young people - raise the profile and requesting devolved nations to come together to ensure the speedy establishment of a cross-departmental Commission. Children and young people are really good at campaigning - Greta demonstrated this well!

Free meals in nursery settings is very important for FEEE2 children. We see our families either not taking up FEEE2 due to extra costs from settings, making the sessions inaccessible or families sending children in with very unhealthy lunches. one setting sadly contacted us asking for support around education families on healthy lunches as they had some children ebing sent in with only chocolate bars, left over KFC and Mc Donalds. We need to ensure these children get a healthy breakfast and a balanced cooked meal giving them the best start in life.

DWP is key. In the short term auto-enrolment will ensure that families newly eligible for FSM will get support. Currently families are faced with registration delays and missing out on C-19 support.

We heard yesterday that Welsh Goverment are looking into auto-enrolment as a result of the progress on new systems to make cash/BACCS payments for FSM over Covid.

Totally agree, tackling poverty, educating our children a key round food and managing finances should be part of a wider approach.

That's great Katie. Would be good to see this autoenrollment across all nations, and also taking in autoenrollment for (an enhanced version of) healthy start vouchers - needs to start before school age!

Brilliant that Beth and Faith have met with the First Minister of Wales.

How about a School Food Premium. Follows the child in the same way as pupil/sport/art premium and ring fenced with breakfast, lunch, holiday - even ingredients for cooking classes.

Completely agree with Ryan, if we could take political views out of it and focus on the human dimension that would be great!

Well done on responses to questions from Young Ambassadors

There is an obligation on the state to use all available resources to the maximum extent possible to fulfil children's rights. That isn't happening. The UN Special Rapporteur on poverty described the UK's failure to address poverty as a political choice.

All our Ambassadors form a very articulate group and we must give them every platform we can.

well done to all. Full support for Children's Right to Food Commission. Govts can work cross departmental at speed when they want to. Covid has highlighted health and education inequalities which have widened during the crisis. There has never been a more relevant time for right to food. Pauline. Children in Northern Ireland.

there is a big problem with free. Give a starving man a fish and he wants another, give him a fishing rod... we need to reconnect people of all ages with their food supply. We should value food - schools can help grow food while learning.
