Not to contradict Susan, who has her ear to the ground on this, but it is a bit more nuanced; "...Angel Vasquez, who’s challenging another former Stringer endorser in state Sen. Robert Jackson, told City & State that Stringer and his team “wanted to be helpful” to his campaign and “gave me a list of folks that I could contact on the Upper West Side.”
Paula & Luis
49:26
"But Stringer clearly isn’t going scorched earth against Jackson – the Upper West Side Democratic clubs that often follow Stringer’s word have all backed the incumbent."

One of the reasons for this forum is our concern about how myths about bail reform are used against our candidates. How do we communicate this with everyday people?

Between 2019 and 2020, the violent crime rate in New York State barely changed—from 361.0 to 363.8 per 100,000. In the same period the national rate increased by 5%; in Georgia, it increased by more than 20%.

i work in e.30 St. Shelter. i have for 6 years. please do not disparage our DHS services and staff. NYS determines that any one in need of shelter shall receive it. noah

Depends on the issue which one of us is more liberal!
Richard Siegel- he him
01:44:44
DHS often tells hospitals to send folks to supportive housing -- but it takes months to a year to get them to the housing.
*Michelle McGrath (she/her)
01:44:57
Precisely Richard!!!
Liz Bender
01:45:58
It's also very difficult to arrange supportive housing for people at Rikers in such a way that it's available upon release - judges want to know housing is in place before relase, and housing providers (understandably) want to know that a bed is going to be filled - an impossible cycle for many
Richard Siegel- he him
01:46:00
So how do we change the narrative -- less jails and more supportive housing. More treatment facilities so that it does not take a month to see a therapist
Peter Flom
01:46:27
I think we make the case that it saves a ton of money.
