Hi everyone! Tuning in from Oakland, CA.
SF Portola resident checking in from vacation in Mammoth!
Kathleen please mute :)
Hi Everyone - SF West Portal resident, tuning in from New Hampshire!
Hi Pat! I guess it turns out you can get there from here!!!
All of this inheriting...and yet George Gascon got elected in LA
Auto burglary is down that’s hard to believe….
According to sfpd dashboard..
It is a fact if you look at the stats…
It’s the Chronicle.
Chronicle + Nextdoor + opportunistic reactionaries = recall
Fed up residents = recall
Yeah I think you’re right Renee- it’s strange the residents aren’t fed up with the police who have historic low arrest rates or fed up with the Mayor, they’re fed up with a progressive prosecutor.. I think that’s the NExtDoor/Chronicle root cause that Ralph is suggesting.
If only they read 48 Hills.
In CA the recall is what you turn to when you do not like the election results. In other states, voters need to wait for the next election to vote out elected.
Nice that our constitution lets us save that wasted time.
Our constitution lets rich people overturn election results when the elections turn out the wrong way.
Recalls ARE democratic elections this is cringey.
Recalls seem democratic but they have unlimited campaign finance limits..
What's the bullphone user saying?
20 states allow recalls. "Something something Trump" is not a serious argument.
Sorry for the sound interference happening outside.
Sounds like someone is outside with a bullhorn
The Republicans complain about “cancel culture”. Have we morphed into “recall culture”?
129k voters ranked Chesa in Nov 2019- if there’s a recall with comparable 40% turnout and 101k voters successfully recall Boudin, that seems pretty anti-democratic..
like Shaun King or different?
Question: What about those of us that are concerned about the victims of crime, more than the perpetrators? You speak about how you’re helping criminals. What about us victims?
Pankaj: Boudin was talking about that at the beginning, extending victim services
Clearing rape kit backlog, extending victim services to victims of police attacks.. couldn’t make out the rest of it
Curious the percentage of Democrats sign up on the recall.
Retailers often don’t even report the thefts because they have insurance to cover their losses.
Prop 47…. Revolving door for low street crimes
andrea: where are you seeing that number?
Just saw it on the recall website
Was also curious
I don’t think there’s a way to verify what percentage of recall signers are democrats until the signatures have been turned into dept of elections- otherwise it’s just press release from recall website, no independent verification
Target keeps closing earlier and earlier due to theft
Also there’s no place for “party preference” on the recall petition so they’re really just guessing?
no, it's the 29 people who signed on to spearhead the effort. that's not the signatories.
Oh I see thanks renee
SF is 62% democratic, 27% no party preference according to sos https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/ror/123day-gen-2020/historical-reg-stats.pdf
Thank you for expanding victim services DA Boudin! Finally some real meat.
My question to Chesa, what is he doing to lower/prevent Asian hate crime in the city of San Francisco
Raymond: I thought this was helpful looking at the data of Asian hate crimes: https://stopasianhate.medium.com/what-the-media-gets-wrong-about-anti-asian-hate-369656a98684
Question: Republicans complain about the so-called “Cancel Culture”. Have we now entered into the “Recall Culture”. There are 3 difference petitions circulating: SF School Board; SF DA; CA Gov.
Thanks Mark, but I would like Chesa to answer my question…
Got it Raymond, me too :)
Chesa, how about home incarceration for all the people you don’t want to incarcerate? Won’t that be a deterrent to committing crime/recidivism?
I thought Ram was moderating online attendees :(
