Galina Volchkova
24:33
Landlords couldn't increase rent under our state moratorium... were those increases still happening?
Michael Seiwerath
24:37
Tedd- If there is currently about $100 million a month in unpaid rent each month, how much each month was unpaid pre-pandemic?
Samatha Anderson
24:43
We do need to address that landlords are business owners and that for things like our last years legislation and recovering those taxes at city levels we need to make sure our business owners are getting paid too.
Samatha Anderson
25:27
They could increase for new tenants though correct?

The state’s unemployment system is still not paying out to all workers who qualify. The state should pay for these workers interest on the back unemployment they didn’t get and were due

Nicole Macri (she/her)
01:01:06
Thanks very much to you all for your advocacy, and for highlighting these additional needs, esp UI; broadband access; good cause/tenant protection (in addition to rent assistance). We are indeed tracking all of these, and all of it needs a lot of advocacy. You can send me additional thoughts/questions to nicole.macri@leg.wa.gov.
Mallory Van Abbema
01:01:19
How we can we understand "significant" increase of the doc. recording fee? Is there analysis (rental arrears etc.) happening now to identify a specific $ ask?
Elizabeth Maupin
01:02:33
Is there anything that you will do to protect people who need help to stay housed despite shortfalls for mortgage payments and property taxes? These may be more numerous than you imagine. Loss of the wealth tied up in homes will further increase poverty at the bottom while enriching those who can snap up properties that are foreclosed. The wealth gap will not narrow if we do not help.
Laura Delmendo (she/her) Bellevue LifeSpring
01:06:13
Thank you all for such rich information. See you all at the next meeting.
Michele Thomas, she/her, Housing Alliance
01:08:36
RE: how much an increase are looking at for the document recording fee? We are still working on that. It will be significant though and should be nailed down in the next couple of weeks.
Mallory Van Abbema
01:08:56
Thanks Michele!
NAJJA E. BROWN
01:13:14
Unbelievable!
Michele Thomas, she/her, Housing Alliance
